This has to be a question other people have.
I'm playing MM1 and I can't figure out what to do. Serious lack of motivation. My guys are level 5-6 and I'm still kicking around Sorpigal and C2 (cleaned out the cellar). Feel like I might be missing some content but where am I supposed to go? If the answer is "nowhere" then, where should I go?

You should have found someone willing to teleport you to the other towns and gotten at least one quest from under Sorpigal that requires you to go to another town. If you have not found him look harder or ask and I will tell you where. Have fun.

Definitely do this, but also just start looking around. While on your way for this quest, do some exploring. You'll soon find some interesting places to go and things to do.
There aren't as many quests in MM1 as we are used to in our RPGs these days, but there are some. If you look around a little you'll figure out where to get some of them.

I got the delivery quest from under there, but I can't find this person who will teleport me. Where is he?

You should try and walk through walls to find secret doors.
The Leprechaun you need is behind a hidden door at x11,y3.
The main quest is: Go everywhere and map every square.
You'll find many things to do if you do so and stumble over the plot.

See the attached Map of Sorpigal - The location you seek is #10. Have Fun.

Others have pointed him out to you, but I wanted to let you know that you can also travel to Erliquin on foot, which has the added advantage of letting you explore some of the outdoor areas along the way. Or you can teleport to Erliquin and then travel BACK to Sorpigal on foot.
Oh also when I played I got a hint as to the location of the guy who offers the teleportation service by buying drinks at the tavern and tipping the bartender. It's worth doing in each town, as the bartender usually has some info about the town you're in. Rumors at the tavern will offer advice about the world at large.

You can actually walk to all five towns, although getting to and from Dusk (town #4) is visciously hard without a certain item. It's just far easier (and safer) to teleport or use the Sorceror spell Fly (level 3 #2) . Go past Erliquin and you can find Portsmith; walk halfway across the world from there and you'll reach Algary.
Exploration is at least half the fun! (probably about 68% or so) And the overworld is full of interesting encounters and places to visit. And also things that will kill you. Good luck!
