maros.urbanec: Here is what happened to me and how I got it solved:
When trying to save the game whole operating system crashed. After restarting Windows, save file disappeared, leaving only Autosave in place. Autosave loaded successfully (what a relief!).
.
However, when I tried to save the game, it crashed right after opening Save Game window.
.
Solution: go to
C:\Users\<YOUR_USER_NAME>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\GOG.com\Might & Magic VI Limited Edition\Might and Magic 6 - The Mandate of Heaven\Saves
and delete the corrupted save file. Saving works well after that
I spent all day tryibg to figure why my game was crashing everytime i tried to save, when i read this thread i went to my C:/ drive and searched "virtualstore", clicked on my program files(x86) looked for my saved games in the GOG.com folder and The might and Magic 6 folder and finally found them :) I copied all my saved game files put them in a folder on my desktop and unistalled all traces of MM6 and GOG.com folders from my computer just to make sure. I then renistalled from the GOG website and changed the install directory to my 3do folder in my program folders instead of the GOG folder it creates. After it finished installing i searced for the virtual store again in the C:/ drive and found the folder called "saves" I then took the copied saved games from my desktop folder i created and moved them into the "saves" folder & everything works again! :) Thanks to this thread I finally figured out the problem, finally no crashing and it actually saves my games again! Hopefully this helps anyone else who isnt very tech savy like me and has this problem, Good Luck :)
