I'm a bit turned off by new versions of existing games. The redux thing sounds to me like what Half Life Source is to the original HL (note: I'v played only the original) but if it is what there is so be it ...

Andabout the game itself (redux) could anyone give me a quick review ? Pros and cons?
Vanilla Metro is quite unstable and badly optimized. Redux isn't, plus it looks one helluva lot better.
Apart from that, both vanilla and Redux is identical.

I'd say Redux is worth buying, 'specially now when it's on sale and everything.

Well for 5 instead of 20 what can go wrong... I'l buy it then.
I paid full price on Steam for these... beat them both, the first non-cannon... anyways...

I rebought them here.... as an old school cheapskate that comes from the lands of Build engine games (Shadow Warrior/Blood/Duke) and the Quake/Unreal sagas....

These are as close as you'll ever get to a pure FPS Single Player experience... STALKER has nothing on these!
Redux is the same game as the vanilla one, but ported to the Last Light engine and with some minor changes to the audio department and they tweaked the stealth a bit to make it much less broken, and of course much better optimized. Honestly? You can't go wrong with Redux.

Yes, but I've heard that they made it 'easier' somehow by making it less like stealth-like and more action focused or something like that. I can't say for sure because I haven't played the redux, but I generally don't like when developers start tweaking games that I think are near perfect. I have the hardware to run the original just fine.

I played through the Doom 3 BFG edition after beating the original several times and that as well didn't feel right to me. There was too much ammo and things seem brighter. As if it was made for console or something. I don't like these changes and was curious if this Metro Redux is similar or did they just improved graphics, optimize, etc? Thank you.

The easy part you are talking about is the addition of a difficulty mode that actually allows you to make it more action focused. You have the choice of the original stealth/survival gameplay of the original and the aforementioned action one.

It is true the stealh is a bit easier than the original, but it is not stupidly dumbed down, at least from what I have seen, just a bit more lenient.
