So i got the game in the giveaway but now its refusing to start, when i try to play the game it opens as a background process for several seconds then closes it self, then benchmark tool opens fine but freezes up when i try to run the benchmark.

What ive tried.

Reinstall.

Reinstall using the offline backup.

Running as admin

Running in compat mode for windows 7, 8, and vista.

Setting priority to high.




Im pretty much stumped i had a game do this a few years back on a different machine but i dont think i ever got it fixed. The laptop is brand new and meets the game reqs, its windows 10. Ive seen people have problems with overclocked machines and usb head sets, neither of which apply to me, so any ideas as to whats up?

Same problem here, even Steam version i own started behaving like that today... Weird

Mine hasnt worked ffom word go..probably windows being windows, let me know if you get yours up and running.

I have the same problem: Metro Last Light Redux does not start (process starts and ends just after a few seconds).

BTW Metro 2033 Redux from Epic Games is working fine, so i think it is not a hardware problem.

yeah all my other games work fine, this is the only one causing issues.

Has the game ever asked you to be run in safe mode?
In any case I suggest you to read this post, because it might be helpful.

Anyway, as a general rule, remember to provide information about your system (OS, hardware, etc.) in order to get help.

Ill post my specs later this afternoon when im at my pc, but no as far as i can tell when i click start the game closes it self before it can even create its config file much less get to a black screen or even try to start, ive already updated my drivers and my windlws install.

I also came across the narhimic audio thing last night but my laptop didnt come with that and ive never downloaded it so thats not our problem.

Original games works without any problems, hardware is not an issue here. Redux are working too, until i want to run'em again. Then i have to delete cfg files, otherwise both always crashing to desktop after 2 seconds.

mine wont even run the first time to make any config files, just run in the background for a few secs before closing down, it seems to take longer to shut down if i run with win 7 compat settings. Dont reckon theres anywhere i can exchange the redux version for the og?

something i just noticed, when i replace the legal.ogv with blank copy, it doesnt close. it still runs in the background and eventually drops to zero usage on all resources but it doesnt outright close, so progress i guess.

ive fixed the issue sort of, the German version of the game works perfectly fine and is actually in english for some reason so whatever, but if your having the same problem just download the German version.

I have the same exact problem. Do you mind to share how to install German version? The language option is greyed-out when I try to install from GOG galaxy.

Sure open the gog website from the browser, then go to your library, select metro last light redux, you'll have a window pop up asking whether to download with gog galaxy or to download the offline installer, you should also see a drop menu where you can select the language, select destuch from that menu then download all four parts of the back up installer, install the gane and play.

This is very strange indeed. Basically the two versions should be identical aside from some audio and subtitles files.
I humbly suggest you to contact support reporting both the issue and solution: they may want to investigate the differences between the two versions and fix any discrepancy that is causing the problem.
