Can anybody help me with this? My DS4 and my Xbox One Controller do not make any inputs on this game while they're connected via USB. I've tried DS4Windows and Steam Big Picture, nothing seems to be working.

Plug in the controller, make sure it's the preferred controller on Windows device management settings and then open up the Game Settings when right clicking on GOG Galaxy or finding the setup application in the bin folder, then try to remap buttons on the Key Config tab. Another way is to give the MGS2 Vs Fix a go since it has Xbox and PS4 controller support natively. Look it up on Github.
I played MGS2 with the recommended fan made patch and it was a miraculous experience with many key issues fixed and additional support added. I've moved onto this game (my fave PS1 title ever) and I can't even rebind my controls in-game and the defaults are horrendous.

In case you haven't done so, you have to use the keyboard to rebind your controls, use the up and down arrows to navigate each action, press enter on the keyboard on the action you want to remap, then press the button on the controller to map it. Also as a heads up, inventory scrolling and weapon scrolling is swapped, so you'll want to bind L2/LT for weapons and R2/RT for items.

L2 is Items, R2 is weapons, L1 toggle item, R2 Toggle Weapon
A few issues here.

1.In Metal Gear Solid 1 LT and RT are reverse.

2.Metal Gear Solid 2 has the same probelm.
LB works as LT and RB as RT.

Anyone having issues rebinding controllers? Using an XBox One controller via wireless adapter on Windows 10 and the button remap screen on MGS1 doesn't recognise any buttons on the controller (Although it does recognise the keyboard)

EDIT: Never mind. The controller works plugged in but it isn't recognised going through the wireless adapter. Any idea if this will be fixed in the future?

I am using a wireless Xone controller on my Win10 machine. MGS does not detect it at all and I cannot assign anything in controller options. Any help?

Mau_Stormbringer: for what concerns MGS1:
i'm playing it from the get go with my ps4 controller wired to PC, the layout is quite the same of native PSX controllers, it's just that the directional buttons are not working and using always analog but other than that it's always working.
Yup. It seems the ds4 seems to be the best controller for mgs 1. It has the same layout as the original game on Playstation so it easier to follow directions from manuals and guides from back then, except for the dpad which is not responding.
I am trying to play MGS1 on GoG but I cannot for the life of me get a controller to work. Whether it is a DualSense or a Ds4 none of them will work. I have tried playing it through steam, I have tried the oxide-NL version, I have tried using DS4windows, nothing works. I do not want to play this game on keyboard it just does not feel right. Any help would be greatly GREATLY appreciated.

Game works without problem with dualshock V1 gamepad Only. Does not work with xbox emulated and it does not work with V2 dualshock

In case u have V2 dualshock like i do. Get ds4windows by rychann and in it make it emulate your V2 as V1
easily done in profiles->controls->other->emulated controler Dualshock 4

It can also emulate dualsense as V1 and it will work in game.

Using an official original wireless XBOX 360 controller, there is input delay and the analogue is not great, mostly very inaccurate (very noticeable when facing Ocelot) because there seems to be a big lack of a dead zone for the analogue stick.
Has anyone been able to get this to work with an xbox 360 controller AND being able to walk diagonally with the D-pad? This for sure works on a psx emulator but the gog release is just a bit higher quality (and the emulator cutscenes don't work too well for some reason)

With the DS4, try not using anything, just the Windows drivers. The controller should be identified as "Wireless Controller" by Windows, and should be picked up by the game. You'll have to remap the buttons though, in the game options.

Also, maybe the gamepad you're using needs to be the "primary controller":

If nothing works, at worst you can use AntiMicro:

...but mapping all the keyboard controls instead of only the arrow keys, as explained in the link.
Is there a way to map MGS2 correctly to a Nintendo Switch/Wii U Pro controller?
