Cool, thanks for the status update :).
OK, guys, here is all ships from MOO1. This shouid help, until GOG will remove the codes completely, or make it "any ship work" (like "any combination work" in The Even More Incredible Machine).

Thank you JamesBond007, this is a good find; or good work as the case may be. Helps. But with this form of remnant copy protection still operating it feels more like a cripple ware demo than a game.

Skreczi, any progress on this? Or is it a non-issue?

Shall we abandon all the hope already :)?

I am pretty sure I could help with the problem. From what I recall, disabling the copy test is most simple in Moo 1. The versions I have seen on net have the problem solved.
I could help
- if I knew what exactly is the core problem (reports are confusing)
- if I could have a look at the exe file.
(which is probably impossible.)

I can send you a gift code for Moo1+2, if that'd help (please provide an email, if so).
What about your EXE's, btw? Do they come unprotected already?

The exe files that I have seen on the net:
1) give you 1 and only ship "test" during your first few turns
2) you may click on ANY icon and the test is OK
3) you never see any other "ship test" in the whole game
What exactly is the problem here?

"kyrubb" pre @, right? Sent it.
Hm, tried it now and couldn't reproduce; game behaved exactly like it should (scenario, described in your post).
Guess I'll need to do some additional testing...
Anyone with better (actually, worse) luck?
I have checked it and the copy protection is fully disabled by GOGs and it should be fonctionning with no problems.
I would like to know what those guys were reporting... It costed you a gift, Elwin. Sorry for that.

Hey, I'm glad to have gifted something to someone as brilliant as you; if you ever want any other GOG game, just ask :).
BTW, I am experiencing the "issue" some other people in this thread reported: that of AI suddenly ganging up against him and mass-declaring war without specific reason; I experience such behavior even on Easy, with no direct actions to provoke it.
Is it just how AI works in MOO?

The problem is not that the game locks itself or quits, or deletes the save file. What happens is the game feels likes it makes it impossible to win no matter what once you fail the CP test. just had a game and after selecting randomly in the CP the Klakcons expanded like crazy winning the election having everyone allied and the Meckalr and Klakcons going crazy on my planets. The game was normally before it Klakcons ahead of me and Mecklars behind in tech planet and pop. As soon as I failed this the Mekclars declared on me and first election after it Klakcons won. It gave me no chance to do anything at all. It felt like the game chose one race to win and finish the game as soon as possible.
Edit: this was on average difficulty.
