JudasIscariot: You can download the offline installer via Galaxy by clicking on "More" and then clicking on "Get Backup & Extras" when you are on the game's page in Galaxy.

You can also click on "Account" and then "Library" on the bar at the top of every page on GOG.com, click on Master of Orion's box on your shelf and download the offline installer via your browser :)

The send me the following:

Your DxDiag

Your output_txt.log for master of Orion

And a brief description as to what is happening to you.

You can send me links to your DxDiag and output_log.txt via PM so as to not have them all public :)

LitAura: Has there been any progress to getting this fixed?
We've sent the logs to the developer so if there any fixes to this that depends on them for the time being.
Try moving the d3d9.dll out of the game directory. That worked for me (Geforce GTX 750).

Edit: I put it in the recycling bin. I'd think renaming the file or moving it to the desktop would serve the same purpose.

to where? just delete it?

Moved it out of the folder to the desktop, got the menu, then had just the planet on the next part as if on the main menu lol

What do you mean by it's the same as before? Can I play the Newest version or not? For it's long for me to reinstall it. I'm running 42.8
no, still can't play newest one even after moving the .dll file. It'll show the main menu, nothing works after aside options

Where is the game crashing or freezing up?
when loading the game, it starts with the start menu as the planet with sound would show. However, there is no "New Game", "Continue"....etc. when moving the d3d9.dll file out. All is there but when starting a new game there's nothing but the planet as before from prior screen

Question are the log files going to help? Because the game doesn't generate them at all at the menu stage.
As above, removed the DLL file d3d9.dll from the game directory , and game will start fine, you still can't quit from teh main menu, but the game is playing fine..

Why has it taken the community to find this out?>

When the game starts, it would normally go to a screen which shows a planet in the background, with the main menu options overlaid on this image. This is where you would choose "Single Player game" etc.

For people on this thread, when you start the game you see the planet but there is no menu text on the screen. There is just the background picture. Pressing keys or clicking does nothing - the menu text does not appear so you cannot start playing. There is also no sound (for me).
