TL:DR AI mages are still insanely agressive!

This is all in normal mode....

I reinstalled MoM along with the Unofficial patch 151RC5 and the enemy mages are all still insanely aggressive.
Although they no longer wardec me IMMEDIATLY after ten turns, like I reported before... they are still frequently agressive without provocation.

Like they'll send units to my territory, try to take my node and then start a war when I kill their guy and take it back.
That made sense, if that was the end of it... but it's not; this happens in a chain reaction after the start of the game, where tthey wardecc me one after another until all of them are.

This leads to unending war, which is impossible to win; I just edited the savegame to add a bunch of gold and mana, because I had no chance to recover from this shit.
The game is not fun like this. :-(

I cannot seem to find the directory where GOG puts MOM. When I search, I turn up the patch files. Maybe GOG installed DOSBox and also MOM by Windows installation?

Did you use Galaxy to install the game, or a stand-alone installer?

If you used a stand-alone installer, then just run the installer far enough to see the file path (don't re-install the game, just check the file path the installer has). Try looking in that file path for the installation.

If you used Galaxy, I don't know what to tell you. I don't use Galaxy.

I used the installer. I finally found it but it is in my OS install. And I can't seem to use the unzip file management software to move my files there. I wish it would ask for administrator privileges which I of course have on my own computer but it doesn't.

I suggest just reinstalling the game in a better location (C:/games/MoM or something). Copy your save files to the new installation and uninstall the old one. Then you should be able to patch or whatever without further problems.

w10 64, 60hz display rate, installed via galaxy. unzipped and overwrote files in gog directory.
ive sene unofficial patches to mom even 20 years ago when i was a kid. but this is the first time ive actually installed one.
unfortunately, now mom just doesn't load past the "simtex" screen. :(

You can try Master150Final.zip or the latest RC for 1.5.1 (MoM151RC5.zip as of this post). I downloaded the .zip file and extracted it into my aster of magic directory, overwriting old files. Keep in mind that old saves will no longer work, so probably a good idea to back everything up first.

I've only been playing his patch for a short time but it seems like he's done an amazing amount of work cleaning up bugs.

I can't seem to reach the website for caster of magic patch - any alternate locations or suggestions?

The page linked there IS working and has the unofficial patch, both 1.5 final and an ongoing beta of the 1.51RC7.
just click Download, then scroll down to get either Master150Final.zip or MoM151RC7.zip.

The link in this thread is a wiki and I can't see a download of anything. It talks about the patch with no download

Would https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/showthread.php?tid=10492 be satisfactory, or do you need other versions of 1.40? You can also try https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/showthread.php?tid=10633, but some manual fixing (hex editor or fileset) is required at the moment until I get around to update it.

Sorry, I don't even plan to fire up this game for another year or so. I just like to encourage people who ask a question and come back to say they solved it, please instead to share the solution.
