Tried to run this w/ DOSBox and Boxer, but they're saying it's the Windows version, not the DOS version and so it won't run. Anyone else get this from GOG and get it to run on a mac?

Master of Magic never had a windows version as I recall. Could it be that you are trying to run the setup in Boxer? If yes, first run the setup through wine or bootcamp (or a windows installation), then moved the installed game over to mac for use in Boxer.
Don't have a mac, so I can't offer more help, but there should be a few more knowledgeable people who will offer more insight.

I'm getting this error message from DOSBox 0.74 on my iMac with macOS 10.12.2:

This program must be run under Win32

So, anyone out there who can get "Masters of Magic" running on a Mac?

You'll need to extract the windows installer somehow (like innoextract) first as there is no MAC installer. Then you should be able to run MOM using Boxer installed on your computer.
