Yes, you're right. In fact I have the problem too, I just didn't noticed it before because I was focused on the other issues. If you communicate with support team soon, it would be nice to tell them about this too and refering to your first post of this thread with the full list of actual known of issues (I sent them an answer yesterday talking about how we solved the "disclosure" issue, and now I don't really want to spam them, especially if you communicate with them about it too). It makes me think that you should put a link in your first post to the post where I talk about the "disclosure" crash (or simply talk about it)(even if it doens't appear to happen to everyone) : disclosure crash.

I'm afraid of potential bugs/troubles unseen now due to broken actual GOG's version, that's why I will play only a little the game until a better release from GOG come. I hope they'll do something soon, and that the version they'll provide will be as "clean" (and updated) as possible this time (for example like the retail version). I really think this mess should be easily solved.

May be it's Wargaming who has provided a different version. Why, I don't know, especially if Gamersgate's version is DRM-free too. Or may be Wargaming provided a "basic" version to GOG who had to take care of the patching work.

I dont know, any number of people could be to blame for this, Wargaming, GoG, maybe one or maybe both.
I have been using a patched CD install to provide the fixes in the first post of the thread.

HA HA part of it is joking but yeah I do work fast, which is both bad and good. cause i am sure its going to cause a problem down the line. but yeah its pretty much this has been saturday so far:

Concerning the main thread, I tried the V3Fix. It doesn't work for me, and guess what ? New "always crash for me bug" found !
1) First, concerning briefings on campaign mode : in fact I can't access them at all (it's a bug I haven't noticed before the "missing english voices bug" was find : I didn't took time to test this game mode). When I begin a campaign, the briefing screen appears (without text) and is "skipped" automatically to load the mission.
2) The new "always crash bug" now : when I select the Career mode in Single player, I click on which side I want to choose and... it crash (always).

This two issues happens with GOG version.
And with GOG version patched with v.2.0.164.
And with GOG version patched with v.2.0.164 and with your V3Fix.

3) And I already talk about it, but don't know if it's intentional in the GOG version but : I don't have cinematics when I launch the game : it goes directly to the loading screen

(Yeah, 2 or 3 new bugs ! Your first post will be VERY useful to keep track of all of them O_o)

All I can advise at this point is that with every fixpack update is to patch it and install it over a fresh install.

Sums up of problems and SOLUTION(S) for me. Don't want to spam the thread (sorry for another big post from me), but it's for doing the point of the situation on my side, and share a solution I found which works for me (THANK YOU LUCK).

1) Version doesn't seem up to date (easily solved with updating)

2) When you want to disclose your first country and push the "disclose" button in single player mode -> World War : you have the left menu which have time to "begin" to appear (sometimes without units inside) and it always crash. Same thing in Hot-seat mode (and I guess in other games modes).

3) (First) Training Mission -> Movement and Combat -- The tutorial tells you to select your Heavy Bot. You select it (sometimes it crash here), and then, tutorial tells you where you must send it : when you want to move it and click where it must go (or even somewhere else for what I saw), it always crash.

6) No voices in training levels (voices who explain things to do etc..)

Solution to ALL OF THIS (except #1 of course):
Copy/past your game installation folder (the folder "Massive Assault - Phantom Renaissance" located in "C:\GOG Games\") somewhere else than the place it was initially installed (I tried to past it on my desktop), and launch the game with "mapr.exe" inside this copied folder of the game. That's all (you can uninstall the GOG version now by the way if you want more space). No need to update or anything else with this solution (I don't understand this at all).
But you still can solve some of the issues with updating the game (solve issue #2) and using the fix provided by Lord_Kane (solve issue#3)(but remember copy/pasting the folder solve ALL issues #2,3,4,5,6).

7) I don't have cinematics when I launch the game : it goes directly to the loading screen, don't know if it's normal.

8) Texts in training mission 2 goes too fast

9) Bad training mission name ("sc_train_o7_00")

10) No useful text in training mission sc_train_o7_00

11) No voices in training mission sc_train_o7_00

And new problem after pasting your game folder somewhere else (issues #2,3,4,5 and 6 should be solved if you're like me) :

12) Voices in Russian : voices are in russian instead of english in training missions and in campaign briefings. (But it seems that small in-game voices are english).

<span class="bold">The V3Fix provided by Lord_Kane</span> contain files wich solve issues 8, 9, 10 & 12.

Issue #7 and #11 aren't solved, but it's not a big deal.

There is still some issues, but I didn't encountered them, so can't to help for them.

!!IMPORTANT NOTICE!!: Version 3 of the fixpack will remain the LAST version of it until I hear from GOG Support, and even then its only meant to be a stop gap until a proper update is put out by GOG, because at this rate I might as well just package the entire game for download minus gog's executable and I dont want to do that, because having to zip up the english VO for the game ballooned the size from a mere 45 - 50 megs to about 475 megs in size. This does not mean I wont be around to offer support for my fixpack it just means work on it has halted. Sorry if this causes problems, I will do my best to help but continue to post bugs with the game as you find them, when I do hear from support I will point them in the direction of the thread and inform you if/when action is taken.

No problem :) (I only hope this will work for others than me XD) Don't hesitate to share with us the result !
Yes, I fully agree XD in fact I was beginning to think the same thing when you made the V3Fix. Honnestly, for now, game is mainly playable (I hope) for people until GOG provide a better version, I think it's the most important.

If/When I hear from them I will inform them of this thread or hopefully they check the forum.

Well, one reason you might not be able recreate it is because I didn't read the thread title fully. The hotseat error I'm complaining about occurred in Massive Assault, not Massive Assault: Phantom Renaissance.

I don't know what differences there are between Massive Assault and Massive Assault: Phantom Renaissance.

Aside from that... I saved the game and tried to load it probably about four-to-six hours after the fact. It repeatedly had the same problem, even after defragging and rebooting my machine.

I was playing on a laptop, which has an i7-720QM (1.6 GHz) processor, 6 GB of RAM, and an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470. Definitely outdated equipment, but it should be enough to run a game from 2003 without problems, so I don't think the laptop is the problem here.

I have a much newer and far more powerful desktop (i7-4770 3.4 GHz, 16 GB of RAM, and an Nvidia GeForce GTX 780). The only common factor between my desktop and laptop is that both run Windows 7 Pro, so maybe I'll install Massive Assault on there and test the saved game. If it doesn't work on my desktop, then the file itself is probably corrupt.

Oh and yeah... my title ("Giver-of-Will") is a reference to Starsiege. I used to play that game a lot and belonged to some online communities that played it and Mechwarrior 4.
