Will this game get the same attention on GOG as the Steam version?
Many releases on GOG got abandoned, while the Steam versions got many more updates.

I am thinking of getting this game here, instead of Steam, but this needs to be clarified first.

I also hope that the game would be supported with updates here just as frequently as on Steam. Maybe it has changed since, but last time I saw info, GOG also paid more to the devs than Steam, so an incentive should be there to support the GOG version too. Finges crossed.
i second that question!
i guess this answeres the question... not even a answer on GOG, so why "steam like" updates then?

Well,

it doesn't look good. I refuse to buy the game on Steam because of many factors, like DRM.
If the developers don't write back in the next 4 weeks, I won't spend a penny on the game.
May it look amazing and even be a nice time killer.

It is time, that Gamers start having standards like customer service.
The gaming industry took a wrong turn in the 2000-2010 area.

If you want my support, you gotta offer service.
GOG is a great place and the customers are awesome people.
All we want is the same respect as the plattforms, that have higher sell numbers.
If we don't get even that, then why even bother buying?
Why bother that's the right question. Given of the state of the game it is doing good by the numbers, financially and perception - wise. Good for the developer(s) but seldomly a really great game is successful from the start. UE4 is really off - putting for me because it's meant for big AAA titles not a self-proclaimed single dev...
Among others, Ostriv, Foundation, and Old World, are better bets than this so far severely-underbaked confection.

w developer stated within the game that if there are any questions people can always ask them in the discord and he will answer them as soon as possible (a timeframe was give but I can't remember it)
+1 - I too really do hope that devs plan to upload hotfixes and future patches to GOG. Game seems fun, but worker AI is quite broken atm.

Forget it. Today I returned the game and got my money back from gog.com.
Since 10.05. there is a patch to v0.7.96 with many changes in balancing and heavily bug fixing.
The update is available on Steam, but not on gog.com.

An Early Access game without updates must be a joke, isn't it?

Due to DRM Steam is not an option for me, so I have to wait until the game is completed. Bad luck.

This is not exactly true. Since 10.05 a Branch test of the new version is available on Steam (so beta-test of the new version). You need to subscribe "beta test branch" on Steam to play on it.
There is no such thing on GOG, That explain why we don't get the update. hope that the "beta-test" quickly end.
