I have a IBM 5160 with 256kb of RAM. I want play on my retro computer, but in the folder "original" isn´t any exe. Where is it?

I'm after the same thing for similar reasons. Seems like it's not there - I guess ScummVM just handles the whole game internally using the data files and doesn't need the executable. Which would be fine, but there's nowhere else on the internet I've found that has the original EXE.

The "original" folder is the V1 release. In the main Maniac Mansion folder is a MANIAC.EXE, which is V2.
Same game, except: slightly better graphics, and ability to save in more than one "slot". Just use that, and the data files in the main folder.
It should run fine on that IBM with CGA or EGA, or any newer DOS era retro machine.

I had the same issue of no .exe to run on my Tandy 1000. I could not find it anywhere. Turns out it is not included with the Linux version of this game. You have to download the Windows version to find it.
According to the wiki page using Aaron Giles Dreamm emulator will reconstruct missing .exe.
It should also work for Zak, Sam & Max and Curse. I've tested it on Zak and apparently it works!
Sooo that's one walkaround for having proper versions
