I've completed level 14 a couple of times already, but I don't seem to find any spells lying around anywhere. Still, the end-level stats say I've found 50% of the spells, even though I don't think I've picked any. So how to get 100%?

I've played the game through a couple of times earlier already, but I don't remember at all this issue, or then I gathered it is a bug in the game.

Note: this is not the GoG version of the game, but Magic Carpet Plus.

I don't think it's a bug. I believe the 'spells found' statistic is calculated as all spells found so far in all levels played so far, out of the number of spells which _could_ have been found if you'd looked in the right place, or killed the right wizard or monster.

So you can get a 50% spells found score without having found any spells in one level, because you've found a total of 5 out of the possible 10 spells which have become available up to that point. Similarly, you could find 1 spell in a level, and get an 80% score if that one spell brought your total up to 8 found out of 10 possible.

So it sounds like you missed a few spells in an earlier level(s). You will get other chances to pick up those missing spells in later levels.
I don't think that's right. I've completed up to 14 as well, with 100% spells on every level. This one I kept getting 50%.

A usenet post to comp.sys.ibm.pc.games.action says this though:

There is a ring of standing stones on that level (a small one) that is
either there when you start, or is triggered (i forget).
anyway, if you do a weeny circle touching all the stones, a spell appears
(mana magnet, from memory). i think that you have to do a clockwise circle.
if not, try anti-clockwise.

And it worked!
For anyone interested I've uploaded short video where counter-clockwise fly is demonstrated. BTW it's Steal mana spell in Level 14 that is hidden so well. ;)

Sorry, but I'm not allowed to post any links as of yet so just remove the extra spaces from my link above to make it work :(
BTW What are the requirements one must meet to be allowed to post links?

Thanks for the video it helped.

For anyone interested (sorry to resurrect an old thread, but there is little online material for Magic Carpet, and maybe someone will find this useful too):

The % spells found is for the current level only. The reason it can be 50% or 66% even if you don't find anything, is becaues you can't see jars of spells which you already have.
So if you get 50% without finding any spell, it means that there were 2 spells on that level, one of which you already had.

Refer to exhibit A. It covers all this.
