Ross90: Guys, if you run the game as administrator (right click game exe and select Run as Administrator), you will be able to unlock achievements!

GeraltVonHessen: Thanks for that, it worked for me. But unfortunately with this method you can't use the galaxy to start the game and so you don't have the overlay (so you can't see that you get an achievement).

I also wrote an email to the support, but I don't expect an answer this year...
You have to right click mafiadefinitiveedition.exe, select properties, in the new window that open go to the compatibility tab and check "run this program as administrator", save and close the window. Now you can use gog galaxy.

SargonAelther: Also I got one achievements soon after launch on Galaxy 2,0 (Don't remember the exact version), so it worked at some point...
I refuse to believe that all the unlocked achievements were unlocked by 1.2 users. It must have worked on some older version of 2.0 before too.

SargonAelther: Ok, so after a lot of faffing around, I can confirm that my memory and theory are correct. It DID work on an older Galaxy 2.0 version and GOG broke this relatively-recently. I looked at my achievement unlock date, which was 2023-04-08 and then looked for a corresponding Galaxy version, which was 2.0.61 from 2023-03-30. I installed this old version and achievements are working. See attachment.

You can verify my claims by checking my profile. Hover over the green trophies to reveal their unlock dates.

Old Galaxy download links, depending on your preference:
setup_galaxy_1.2.67.58.exe
setup_galaxy_2.0.61.63.exe
You will need to uninstall your current version, to be able to downgrade.

I will report all this to GOG on Monday. I hope that investigating the changes from 2.0.61.63 to 2.0.80.33 will be easier than from 1.2.67.58 to 2.0.80.33. This makes me wonder how many other, less popular, games with broken achievements are caused by Galaxy and not the games themselves now...

So contacted Support and in my email, I linked them this thread. It seems like I got the same response as everyone else but judging by the most recent posts, looks like there's a current workaround. I should try this out for myself when I get the chance.

As if "you can do that", technically yes although I can't mention on this specific title.
Sorry, I completely forgot about this. Holiday stuff got in the way.. and well anyway, what I meant by "if you can do that" if database editing still works. I searched the GOG forums and found an old forum post on how to do this but no matter how many times I edited the database file (it was for a different game), Galaxy wouldn't recognize that trophies/achievements were unlocked. So maybe that's what they meant by locked? Seems like if the server-side of things doesn't recognize you unlocked them legally then you can't do it manually. I wonder if I was editing the wrong file.
