Chuncho_Barabancho: What worries me more is that there are no cloud saves in the game.

And one more question: in order for achievements to appear, will you need to re-complete the game?
Yes, if you mid story you need replay old chapters to get achievements
Isn't there any other solution?
I am so on the story :(
Does anyone have any solutions?
Is this still an issue? Want to play the game but not until this gets fixed. This might have been caused by a recent Galaxy update because a friend had no issues when he played it a few years ago (achievements unlocked properly).

I came here today after noticing that after 9 hours of playtime, I was still at 0% achievements.
I just found this after 15h of play.

My suggestion (instead of installing gog 1.2 only for this game) is to enable the achievements through SQLite once you are done.
It won't feel as good, but it's a solution.

Ah, so it has not been fixed. Considering many games on GOG have features that don't work, I don't have hopes of this getting fixed...

Can you elaborate? Even if you unlock it locally, once it syncs with the server, it will lock it again. it will only stay unlocked while you are offline and Galaxy cannot verify with the servers.

Also I got one achievements soon after launch on Galaxy 2,0 (Don't remember the exact version), so it worked at some point...
I refuse to believe that all the unlocked achievements were unlocked by 1.2 users. It must have worked on some older version of 2.0 before too.

John_Nunes: I'm happy to see more people being able to enjoy their game in the best way, I sent a message to support, but I always get a generic response, this problem doesn't seem to persist anymore.
They probably look at unlock stats and / or recent unlocks (by galaxy 1.2 users) and refuse to dig any deeper. I'll ping GOG on Discord on Monday.

Ok, so after a lot of faffing around, I can confirm that my memory and theory are correct. It DID work on an older Galaxy 2.0 version and GOG broke this relatively-recently. I looked at my achievement unlock date, which was 2023-04-08 and then looked for a corresponding Galaxy version, which was 2.0.61 from 2023-03-30. I installed this old version and achievements are working. See attachment.

You can verify my claims by checking my profile. Hover over the green trophies to reveal their unlock dates.

Old Galaxy download links, depending on your preference:
setup_galaxy_1.2.67.58.exe
setup_galaxy_2.0.61.63.exe
You will need to uninstall your current version, to be able to downgrade.

I will report all this to GOG on Monday. I hope that investigating the changes from 2.0.61.63 to 2.0.80.33 will be easier than from 1.2.67.58 to 2.0.80.33. This makes me wonder how many other, less popular, games with broken achievements are caused by Galaxy and not the games themselves now...

Wait, can you actually do that? I've read in the general forums about people editing the database files in the past (more than 3 years ago) but I'm unsure if this works now.

Interesting. I played a bit of Strayed Lights months ago and achievements did not unlock. Reported the issue to GOG and they said achievements were working fine based on the stats which show people have unlocked them. So perhaps a Galaxy update broke the achievements just like with Mafia.

So, after finishing my gameplay I was about to do that and I found what the issue might be after all.
Galaxy is not creating a database file for Mafia DE.

I am not sure if importing a clear database file from a 1.2 or older 2.0 install would solve this, but I might try that when I get some free time.
Regarding the other user claiming the database gets locked... am not sure what you mean.

As if "you can do that", technically yes although I can't mention on this specific title.
How you feel about it that's up to you. It's not like anyone is looking at your profile but yourself after all (unless you are lucky enough to have friends who actually use galaxy).
Personally I hate silly achievements that do not base themselves on game completion but on silly repetition in order to give senseless hours of play to the game. I will always manually unlock those.

I was pretty sure it was a recent Galaxy update that broke the achievements because if you check the forums nobody has ever reported them being broken and the game itself has never been updated after it came to GOG or at least I did not see an update on gogdb. So it had to be a Galaxy update!
Guys, if you run the game as administrator (right click game exe and select Run as Administrator), you will be able to unlock achievements!

Thanks for that, it worked for me. But unfortunately with this method you can't use the galaxy to start the game and so you don't have the overlay (so you can't see that you get an achievement).

I also wrote an email to the support, but I don't expect an answer this year...
