Is it possible to increase the drawing distance?
I remember when I played mafia couple years ago I was able to modify ini file to increase drawing distance, if I remember that correctly, however now I can't find it nowhere.
I tried the wide screen mod but when I extract the files to my mafia installation folder the game don't start.
It is most annoying when I am on the bridge and the buildings in front of me are just appearing in the very unnatural way.

Thanks, it works, I was looking for a more permanent solution but this will do for now.

I am sorry but this does not work with the gog version.
does not make any difference in the draw distance in free-ride neither in story mode.

Looks like the person linked you a version that is apparently only for Free Ride (hence the small size and there is only one mission folder).

I've been personally using this one, which does the Draw Distance thingie for all the missions, including Free Ride and Free Ride Extreme. Just open the self-extracting folder inside and navigate it to your Mafia folder.

Huh, looks like it must have gotten corrupted when I repackaged it.

I don't mind old textures and animations but the building appearing in front of me were killing it for me. Your solution solved my problem, thanks again.

Unfortunately this solution is crashing a game. Did you have the same problem?

EDIT: I had to disable the afterburner in-game graphic card usage display and the game has not crash ever since. hopefully that will resolve it because this unlimited view distance is just great!

EDIT2: Unfortunately I still got those random crashes. Sometimes it happens couple of times in one mission sometimes every two or three but they still crashing my game and I need to go back from the game save, anybody had something like this?

I think the game wasn't meant to be played with such drawing distance, so it may sometimes crash at certain points. At what mission does it crash and when?

In my experience, night missions in the city were pretty crash prone with UDD. No idea why.

A simpler and cleaner solution is Mafia Widescreen Fix, which is already set to 600, that looks similar to the cumdal cheat.
