so sadly i had to get a new pc and this one has windows 11 which seems fine for the most part, but sadly when it comes to m1tankplatoon, it crashes now right upon start - there is a brief black screen then a CTD

not sure what to do , - just give up?

Did you try the windows compatibility modes?

You also have to install nGlide to use the Glide API video modes with hardware acceleration.

lol, of course i tried compatibility mode and your answer about nglide is not correct either as the glide version of M1 TP2 does work properly - even the publisher of this version said so,. One just plays it in software mode which is fine for me.

I hav ebeen able to obtain a fix for the game fortunately.

The folks working on Dxwnd have created a custom profile for m1tankplatoon 2 - it might be in the latest update of dxwnd,

the problem with m1tankplatoon2 and windows11 was due to microsoft breaking the emulate heap function in their 22h2 update for windows11. this affected m1tp2 such that it would no longer even start.

Dxwnd luckily has a virtual heap setting which fixes the issue.

so look up Dxwnd and go t their discussion forum and search for M1 tank platoon2 and you will find the relevant thread

You're wrong. Windows does only support OpenGL and Direct3d out of the box, it doesn't support Glide. Glide requires a Voodoo card. To make it work on hardware that is not a Voodoo card you need nglide or similar software as a wrapper library that converts glide calls to OpenGL or Direct3d calls so that your videocard can understand and handle them.

Running the game in software mode, doesn't mean, that you run it in glide mode. There is no such thing as glide version.

A publisher is only a publisher, he doesn't know how computers work.
well i am just using the term glide kind of synonymously with 3dfx, - you are getting too hair-splitting over it. In the game M1TP2, after version 1.0, when it was patch to 1.1 and 1.2 Glide option was introduced - its in the options screen, i dont know why you are saying there is no such thing as glide version.

Overall i am just not sure now what you point is

also it was type on my part when i spoke about Nglide - using it for M1tp2 will produce a nice result for a mission, but the game will CTD straight after that and no reliable fix has yet been found for this. and tby this i am referring to running the game in windows xp through to windows 11
