Windows 10 here, and I can run Crysis. :/

Digital Theory Ltd., before you try to sell the same garbage excuse you do on steam forums: Yes I have all drivers up-to-date. No, I don't run it on notebook with multiple monitors. No, I don't have a DDrawCompat file with "FullscreenMode = borderless" in it.

So since you're charging money for it, please fix the game, so that it can work right out-of-the-box,

Thank you.

edit: asked for a refund. When it's confirmed working by other GOG users, and on sale, I will gladly buy it.

Chipping in here to say that if you're referring to M1 Tank Platoon 2, I had the same problem, the game would just crash out immediately. I did get it working by creating an Nvidia driver profile for the game and disabling G-Sync, it really doesn't like that.

I had done a bit of messing about with it prior to finding that out, trying out dgVoodoo as well as other versions of DDrawCompat and it does seem like M1TP2 is *very* picky, it really doesn't want to run nicely on modern systems.

It's also worth pointing out that the DDrawCompat version also appears to have been updated, when it released on GOG it was version 0.3.1 (dated May 2021), and I've just got an update where it's gone up to 0.4.0 (September 2022) and also now has that DDrawCompat.ini file. I have no idea if the updated one plays more nicely with G-Sync being enabled.

Other things I've played around with/seen noted elsewhere, it plays in Software Rendering mode only 'cleanly', you can use nGlide to get a mission to play with Glide but it'll CTD after a mission finishes (I haven't messed with nGlide settings yet so I don't know if it does this 100% or just with the default configuration).

In terms of whether it can be made to play nicer than it is right now? No idea. The base game just really seems to dislike modern systems.

But yes, in short, to get it running as 'out of the box' as it can be right now, disable G-Sync and keep it to Software Rendering mode.
As it's been said above the game runs fine smooth and stable as far as you run it in software mode. But I understand that you can't launch the thing, crash at launch, so It seems to be a problem from your side, because the renderers themselves are selected into the game.

try editing the new ini in the update, borderless or exclusive, desktop resolution or app selected or if nothing works, Uninstall and try again.

The problem "is not on my side". If I was expected to mess around with the game in order to make it work, I shouldn't be expected to pay 12 bucks for it. If I do it, those who sell it are expected to do it for me. Stop excusing people that try to make a quick buck on nostalgia.

The game runs for others out of the box, me included. So the problem is on your rig.

If your problem with the game is the price say do so, if the problem is "a quick buck on nostalgia" I do not understad why you purchased the game in the first time, not interested in oldies nor in the price.

Who are those "others"? Lol. These forums are dead, but if you take a stroll on steam forums you'll see I'm not the only one. You can count yourself lucky. And if you think I have a problem with the price you weren't paying attention.

If you have two videocards, use the dedicated one, not the integrated to run the game.

And/or turn GSync off if enabled

Those things are user side responsabilities and need local managing and tweaking. It can' t be done by the developers. It will depend on each PC

That solved the problem for some people on Steam

If not, reinstall the game. GOG installers use to enable old deprecated features in new windows at the end of the installation. Directplay etc

Please know that I really appreciate your input, considering that no Dev comes here.

No, I have a single video card.

And/or turn GSync off if enabled.
That's one of the bullxxxxx recomendations found on steam. And it doesn't work.

That's not the way it works. But you're welcome to think that way. Not my business.

If not, reinstall the game. GOG installers use to enable old deprecated features in new windows at the end of the installation. Directplay etc
I did it. I asked for a refund here and bought it on Steam (at a lower price btw). Same problem. So now I'll ask for a refund there as well and will get the game in the same place where the devs found it: abandonware website. If I have to work to get it working "becasue it's my responsability" then at least I will have it for free.

Thanks mate.
I just spent a frustrating hour or so trying to get the game to launch. Updated all graphic drivers and had no effect. Messed around with the DDrawCompat.ini file to no effect. I have a radeon graphics card so there is no g-sync to turn off.

I found the an installation guide for ddrawcompat (I can't post the link but it will come up if you search for "DDrawCompat wiki".

I followed option 1 (renamed (ddraw.dll to dciman32.dll) and 3 (renamed M1TP2.exe) and the game actually launched (when I clicked on the renamed M1TP2.exe file) but then it crashed when I tried to actually start a mission (after the briefing and the image of the commander's display). It did this in software display mode and the other modes also.

I just wanted a hit of nostalgia but there appears to be some significant barriers to getting this game actually functioning.

I don't know about the GOG version as I'm using the CD Retail 1.2 version and the only way it works on modern systems is to use dgVoodoo 2 DX8/Glide2x and it works fine in both D3D and 3DFX. Try it with the GOG version, I don't see why it shouldn't work. I think it also works with dxwind.
