that's what the message says when I try to start the game. I tried downloading it and copying it first in the game's folder and then in the system32 folder, but nothing.
I am using a PC with Windows XP, by the way

Try downloading the actual redistributable.

I was already helped by Gog support, I installed that but it looks like it just doesn't work on XP. well, just a few weeks that my laptop with windows 7 comes back from assistance, and I will be able to play it. thank you!
