This is why I've dramatically decreased buying games here on GOG... about half of the games I've previously bought here have either not gotten a single update (Gods Will Fall is still on 1.0) and others take FOREVER to get updated and wind up having to beg on Steam (because they don't even come to the GOG forums) for updates

I even requested a refund from GOG for Gods Will Fall and I never even got a response from them!

Love the concept of GOG, but I just can't keep buying games here under these circumstances. I used to value DRM-free over everything else, but now I'd rather have a game that's getting updated and not abandoned

And not to even get into the whole "no soundtrack" for GOG or Achievements for this game... super lazy release

Feurerify: A message from a Dev in the Steam Forum:

"Wait a little, we'll be sending them 1.007 in a few hours"

I assume it just take some time to be released on GOG
Sounds like they're using the super old school method of manually sending a build and then GOG has to get around to it... can't believe in 2021 that GOG is seemingly still giving developers/publishers and option as to how to submit updates... they've had a Steam-esque tool to directly update games on GOG for a really long time now

Gneuh: For me it's OK (but frustrating) to wait a little more, I mostly regret that this communication is done on steam forums rather than here.
Same for me, on both points, but I think the updates should never be delayed by more than one week.

Anyway, it's about time they begin to think about automating the whole update publishing system... oh and yes, not restrict the feature to Galaxy users only, there is no valid reason for that (trying to force people into Galaxy is not what I would call a valid reason).

I hear you, but the problem you refer to (updates never coming) is the developer's fault. Basically, they publish v1.0 on GOG to get the money and that's all. It's like people paying their first term when renting an apartment, only to have the agreement signed, and not paying subsequent terms (and I can tell you such people do exist).

That being said, it seems that some developers don't master their building process enough to be easily able to produce one Steamified build, and one DRM-free build, and I suspect Steam may be indirectly preventing this.

Experience has showed that DRM-ridden games are promised to disappearance sooner or later, unless they're cracked (which poses some problems, among which the safety of the binaries). The risk may seem to be reduced with Steam, which probably won't disappear anytime soon, but who knows what the future will be made of ? Moreover, some DRMed features such as online multiplayer most often rely on third party infrastructure that won't necessarily last long. And then, that feature will be gone, especially considering that general malicious trend of not providing LAN multiplayer...

The game was just updated but unfortunately it's only up to 1.007. The updates 8–10 are still missing. Sadge.

Yes I just saw that. If developers stacks many updates to be handled by GOG's team in the last few days maybe we'll have the next ones soon.

If the delay out of week ends is one/two business days it seems acceptable ... also once the game will be more stable (not 10 hotfix in a few days) there will likely be less updates to catch. So just lest cross fingers that the devs keep this effort on GOG.

I bought the game on Steam, not going to stress over the GOG version always being out of date... if the game does stay up to date on GOG, I'll just consider it a DRM-free backup. But for what it's worth, the game on Steam has no DRM built into it... you can launch it without Steam open, copy it to a machine that's never had Steam and it will run, etc... so it's not like there's really an "extra build" to look after

And this is the most frustrating part about buying games on GOG... we shouldn't' have to cross our fingers and hope a game gets updates

Gog galaxy has a button for showing update notes. It's greyed out on loop hero so I had to check on steam what the updates are bringing. The one thing I will notice is memory fragments from cementaries - I've been wondering why I wasn't getting any after building a cementary.

Thanks for the info on the Steam version's drm option. I was wondering what it might be. Hopefully GoG gets more frequent updates.

This is great and all, but what’s the point of a changelog here on GOG when the game isn’t even up to date? Someone might come here thinking that’s an official changelog and think the game is fully patched, which as of this post, it isn’t

It'll happen at some point.

EDIT: At least in GOG Galaxy the 1.010 update seems to be available now. Offline installers will hopefully appear today too.

Offline installer is at 1.010 now.
I suppose 1.011 hotfix would have been too good to be true, lol.

I have a request open and will close it once GOG gets back on par with Steam... on the subject of game versions I mean, and nothing else of course.
