Just in case no one here can help you, send a support ticket http://www.gog.com/support/contact with a copy of your Dxdiag, your system specs and a copy of that image of the error message.
I'm almost certain these weird Larry 7 problems could be averted if they offered a dosbox alternative mode...

Not really, DOS or Windows there will still be people having issues but on the positive the fact that there isn't alot of issues being posted like there are for say Interstate '76, Gorky 17, Betrayal in Antara, Soul Reaver, Tomb Raider 1(when it first came out here), ect. means that it's either a a isolated issue with Windows 8 or there is something else that is on these few peoples machines that is causing this issue.

If it was a issue with this version in general, as I said, we would be seeing massive amounts of complaints being posted in this board.
I am getting the very same error, but I am running Windows 7 64 bit. :(

i have the same issue with win 7 64 bit. gog crew attempted to solve my issue but it was never resolved. so im sitting here with a game that doesnt work =/. if you get yours to work / find a solution, i would be appreciated if u would post how you got it resolved.

gog sent me a file "resource . win" and i read other people had to edit theirs as well (non gog game version) to fix theirs

Hey Guys,

I had the same problem, and no matter what I did with the resourse file , nothing worked.

if you read the support section there is actually a fix, well kinda,

Install the game to c drive using C:\Larry7 with no spaces

This worked for me.

I'm using Windows 8 pro x64

Oh yeah, outside of Program Files? The peeps around here recommend creating a "GOG Games" folder outside of Program Files, like C:\GOGames\...

well the new installers(2.0), which Larry 1-6 and Larry 7 both use, install the games to the c:\ drive by default (usually c:\ Gog Games\) it just seems that Larry 7 needs to be installed in directory without any spaces and such i.e. C:\LSL7 or C:\LFS instead of the default c:\GOG Games\Lesuire Suit Larry 7

Of course they did kinda say that in the game's store page under system requirements "Leisure Suit Larry: Love For Sail! must be installed on the C:\ drive"

Hmm, well, it needs to be in a different color then or something; that's difficult to come across.
