JamesBond007: Hello again, ladies and geltelmen. I have good news.
I took my old Larry 6 CD, which contains the SVGA version of the game (both DOS and Windows versions). I was able to install and run DOS version by using DOSBox. It appears to be working almost perfectly on my PC (maybe with some brief loading pauses, because the CD is required to play the game with voice acting). Without a CD the voice acting is missing, but the game loads (no messages like "insert the CD".
Actually you can do a direct copy, of LSL6 CD's contents into a folder of your choice on your hardrive. Then move the "resource.aud" file at out of the "AUD" folder, and slip it into the "HIRES" folder. Then run the 'install' or edit the resource.cfg to get the correct sound settings setup. Then use the "sierra.exe' file to enter the game. It's not that difficult! I took my old Larry 6 CD, which contains the SVGA version of the game (both DOS and Windows versions). No need for the CD at all.
No need for the IMG file either.
If you look at one of the screenshots I put in a earlier post, you'll see all the files you'll need to include to get the HD version working.
So can someone with the CD and understands Dosbox well, create a special shortcut for it and settings file, and offer it to GOG? You know make a shortcut so foolproof that even they'll be able to see it doesn't take a genius to use it? Can be easily adapted into their loader?
