After purchasing the Hand of Fate, I anxiously started the game fearing that it is not the original CD version ...... well, it is not really the most up-to-date version published by the original CD
- options menu ingame is missing version number, so I suspect its the 1.0 release, my CDROM version has 1.0A in the right bottom corner of the menu.
- the narrator voice is really so bad in the introduction like the physical CD release, though in the GOG release are some audio lags present.
- no language selection for the game though there is some "hidden" preconfigured stuff for the used ScummVM.
Please include the original installer and use DOSBOX for the emulation, the emulation is way better than the used ScummVM.
For a proper installation, do a default install from the original CD (volume label is "MIKES") in DOSBOX, selecting SoundBlaster 16 for voice / effects, General MIDI for music.
after that, copy the contents of the CD in the folder DATA (make it) of the virtual C folder drive root.(I put it in the DOSBOX game folder with the name GAME:
dosbox.conf:
[autoexec]
mount C: GAME
mount D: GAME\DATA -t cdrom
C:
cd westwood\hofcd
hofcd.exe
exit
As for the language selection, provide a shortcut to the setup.exe of the HOFCD game directory.
