Trying to launch Grimrock gives a missing file error for d3dx9_43.dll
The installer should also start a DirectX install.

Yep, I'm getting the same problem right here.

I haven't downloaded the game yet, but have you tried to download the missing .ddl files and putting them directly into the game folder?

Looks like it's problem with directX9.

Yep same problem running on windows 7,. though i am running in parallels which is not always a good idea.

I had this problem and was able to solve it by re-installing the game and clicking the box for "Install Direct X". Hopefully, this works for some of you as well.

EDIT: Running Windows 7 Enterprise Edition

"The following error occured while starting up the game:
XAudio2 error in XAudioCreate

Please check that your computer meets the minimum system
requirements, DirectX9 is properly installed, and that your graphics card and sound card drivers are up to date"

Check that DX9 is properly installed on your system(Preferably by reinstalling the latest version) if this fails to remedy the issue, the installer is broken and you'll have to re-download it.

OK, I fixed this, I did same thing as essi2 said (installed DX9).
Funny, I always tought that if I have DX11, I don't need to install DX9.
