Yeah, 95 chokes the game along with my system until I ctrl+alt+delete my way out of it, 98 is the same as this shit and everything I've tried for compat gives the same skippy, choppy voice and music that ruins the game, while it works, it's not acceptable. Sad thing is I bought this thinking after all these years and an entirely new rig, this was finally solved (have had 3 PC's since this issue creeped up with my physical copy after an upgrade).
Hi all,

Unfortunately this issue is beyond my ability to fix using my scant bit of knowledge that sometimes works on older games. I would like to, however, ask those of you who are having issues with the game to please send an email ,with a DxDiag attached, to our Support department. We will do everything we can from our end to assist you as quickly as possible. Thanks :D

It's been said there really isn't anything someone here could do, unless they know how to write alternate .dll code like the .bik video fix that was done by someone in russia before GOG got it.

I can explain why as well. The issue is with the music.dat and voices.dat files, the in game's sound effects are in the bigfile.dat and the video audio is in the .bik files and with this particular problem are unaffected, so unless someone can help me build a mod fix using the extracted voice and music files (they work flawlessly as .wav's after extraction, BTW) those with certain sound cards are pretty much screwed.

I'll send it, but if I get a canned response, I won't be happy about wasting my time.

If it makes you feel any better, back when I was a customer of the site I sent off a few support emails myself and I can tell you this: the responses were never formulaic or canned. Granted, me telling you this as a staffer may seem a bit biased but at least this is coming from someone who's been on both sides of the fence, so to speak.

Well, here's the thing, I'm pretty sure I know exactly what area this issue is with, and if I had the proper knowledge of this game's source code I could and would rebuild the entire music tracks from the huge OST, put in the points of the game where they need to be cued up (I also previously owned the PSX version so I know what's missing and where) as well as have the voices be pulled from direct .ogg's or .wav's.

When only two specific files (rushed out the door to sell the game on time and missing tons of cues and additional tracks) of audio coding are an issue I really can't imagine how this is just fixable unless at least semi-rebuilt.

The only thing I can say is give that feedback to our Support department. I can't honestly say what may, or may not, come of it but I assure you that your time will not be wasted. Also, we here at GOG.com don't have access to a game's source code either as has been stated some time before.
Who ever is fiddling with the repping system Would you kindly stop doing so. Or I will take the matter further by asking the GOG team to Lock the repping system

Hi there,

Replace the file entitled 'atiumdag.dll' which is in your Legacy of Kain Soul Reaver folder by the one available in the link below, this should do the trick.

Just tried your "atiumdag.dll" on a virtual PC. Didn't change a thing. Sound doesn't work and the game freezes shortly after switching from intro to ingame graphics.

Strange... Did you try to switch between the different audio available on the little menu that appears when you launch the game (with the choice of the resolution)? That may change something...

No; I did not. I'll try that.

Tried it. I got two choices. Primary Sounddriver and Soundblaster 16. None of them works.

I also tried using the file above with all the various sound options and nothing was fixed unfortunately. The Audio (especially dialogue) skips a lot and is very choppy.
