Hello

When i start the game, the intro is very ugly : it's very blurry like it's censored.. I guess it's the resolution but even when i change it : it's still a very bad quality...

I don't unterstand, when i look videos on youtube, the intro has decent quality...

My game is in vanilla : no mods.

Can someone help me please ?

Can you post a screenshot of the blurry intro? This is an old game, so we shouldn't expect miracles. The GOG version of the game has better quality videos than the boxed version. I remember their quality in the physical copies (vertical stripes over the whole screen). It wasn't pleasant to watch them.

You're right! It's much more pixelated than during my last playthrough 2 months ago. I did some search over the internet and found this: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2191511278. It might help, but I haven't tried this myself. Generally it's not a huge problem because the cinematics are only present during the start and the end of the game. If you want experiment a little however, I'd suggest starting with the above mod.
Set keep aspect ratio in video driver. Turn off Vsync\Gsync (and maybe add game exe manually and experiment with on\off for exe, also try non-discrete video card but auto... ***).
Set a little less resolution in game launcher - 1600x900x32 (*** ... and try switch video driver in launcher).
Turn off any compatibility from kain2.exe an binkplay.exe. Set adminrun to kain2.exe.

First see this, i dont think actual game GOG build are broken. But mine right now installed is from pre-latest build that actully very old
setup_legacy_of_kain_soul_reaver_2.0.0.13.exe. And everything ok.

If nothing help - try put (put back?) disable fullscreen optimisation in compatibility tab of kain2.exe properties.

Thanks but the intro is in english
I found a mod for HD : https://theancientsden.blogspot.com/p/soul-reaver-hd-texture-pack.html

But how to install it for gog ?
I test actual FRE version zGOG build as well, on 1600x900 and 1920x1080 (mine display native). That not happened for me. Im on Win7 x64 Sp1 - i dont need to set fullscreen optimisation in compatibility tab of kain2.exe (that GOG set by default). Again, try on\off this if you on Win10.

Right click on the shortcut to the file (or the file itself), choose Properties, go to Compatibility tab. Here you can disable fullscreen optimization. Just check or uncheck the appropriate box.
