The above error is all I get. I've done the usual trawling of the internet and followed the usual advice (compatibility mode etc...). Nothing works. I've tried Compatibility, different resolutions and bit depths, tried different audio output, rebooting, reinstalling. Nothing. I've noticed quite a few people with this issue. Is there no fix for it? If not, why is the game still being sold as is with no warning? Thanks for any help.

Try following:
Run as admin
Disable any compatibility settings
Delete atiumdag.dll from the game's folder
Disable texture filter

Try them all at once.

Thanks for the reply. I tried all of the above but it still doesn't work. :(

Any other suggestions? Am I the only person with this (vague!!) error?

I just remembered: do you have DEP (data execution prevention) enabled? If so, disable it or put kain2.exe in the list of exceptions.
Thanks for another suggestion. I added an exception for the kain2.exe file. It didn't make any difference. I give up. There's no fun in this any more... Just a bad buy I suppose. :(

The ironic thing was I had just posted on a Youtube video praising the ease of use of games on PC's these days and specifically gave props to GOG! Shouldn't have tempted fate!

You do realize when you bought the game you also paid for support. That link is for Soul Reaver 2. If it's a different game click through the support links from your shelf.
