I use Xpadder and set my Pan left and right to the Rigt analog stick along with Auto face to the click right analog stick button. I reversed the panning so its more like todays games.

Everything else works great.

hlhbk: Which version of xpadder did you make this with? I am getting errors that my version is to old to open it with.
I should have mentioned that... sorry. It's the latest version (2012.01.19). Again, when I get home, I'll take screenshots of the button placements and what keys were used. Sorry for the inconvenience.
I've set mine up more like the Dreamcast controls, as I kept trying to use the triggers and such for crouching and auto targeting.

This is actually pretty simple to map. Some games have so many controls to map.
What advantages does Xpadder has over free applications like joytokey or Joystick 2 Mouse?
I played Beyond Good and Evil with Joystick 2 Mouse, and Rayman 2 with a Linux application that I dont remember his name.
But I couldn't play very well Soul Reaver or Fable. It's really XPadder much better than the free options?

Xpadder has a pretty good interface. You using a 360 controller or a different pad? Not that it wont' work I just haven't had experience with other pads with it.

You can get a free verision of it. Xpadder 5.3 is freeware. If you are using windows 7 you'll need to put it in XP or vista compatiblity mode and admin rights but I was just messing with that version last night and it was working fine.
I use this cheap Gamestop pad and it works perfectly with the game without any extra work :D The d-pad doesn't work though, but with the analogue stick it works perfectly (even though the game doesn't recognize it as analogue stick and it behaves like a digital controller).

I'm using a Genius Maxfire, the model is something like this http://www.idg.es/BBDD_IMAGEN/maxfire_blax3-3.jpg
Actually the free options worked with soul reaver and fable, but I didn't sense a good playerability
Here are some screen grabs of my Xpadder setup that works for me, with my X360 wired controller. I think I left the buttons at default, but I've included screens of my Soul Reaver key settings. I hope this helps someone.

*Edit* I've attached other images, but it only shows 1 attachment.... odd. Below are the settings:

Movement (i.e. Forward Back Left Right): Arrow Keys
Jump/Swin: SPACE BAR
Devour Soul: D
Aim/Grapple: F
Action: A
Crouch: C
Sneak/Face Enemy: S
Zoom: L CTRL
Pan Left: R CTRL
Pan Right: NUMPAD 0
Glyph Menu: ENTER

And I made the same for Pinnacle Gamepad Profiler (which I still think is better than Xpadder).

Just reset your keyboard assignments if you've changed them.

It plays exactly like on the PS1 now.

A word of warning: while using Dualshock 2 with adaptor, d-pad seems to not work correctly (both in and out of analog mode).
Don't forget to these run this programs as administrator before you boot up the game
I logged in just to say that this poster is linking to a very deliberate virus. Can a mod please take a look at this and maybe ban the poster was well? I found it fishy when he linked an .exe file instead of the file for his profile.

I would never link to a virus. Check my REP, I've been here much longer than you, and I'm very well known here in the GOG's forums.

I remember posting this long ago (11 months, and 1 week ago), and it is just a text file for the well known program Xpadder, with the extension ".xpadderprofile". I just downloaded the file to check it, and it is the same .xpadderprofile file that I uploaded from my HDD, with the same CRC (C7808165) as the one I currently still have.

But you'are wrong. What you think it is a virus, is not from me. It is the FileFactory Download Manager, which is not needed to download the file. If the file is downloaded with the option "Download with FileFactory's download manager" enabled, FileFactory download an .exe file with the same name of the file linked. Again, this is not mine, my file is named as "Legacy Of Kain - Soul Reaver.xpadderprofile". I don't know why is this, this wasn't in the FileFactory page when I uploaded the file.

You just need to disable the option "Download with FileFactory's download manager" and it should download my file. You can test it with the CRC (Checksum: C7808165) in any CRC checker (like RapidCRC).

Please, don't post things like that if you don't know what you're doing and without proofs. The download manager is not my fault, it's FileFactory's.

I've been a huge fan of Antimicro, which works similuarly to xpadder etc. It's also open source and free. It can work with any controller too.

I would post a link to the project but GOG is saying I can't post any links at this moment.

I just made a profile that works with this game last night that was happy with.

Thank you for this... I have been beating my head against a wall trying to figure why xpadder wasn't talking to the game but my keyboard was. Saved me a lot of frustration. Thanks again.
