So it's weird but I could play soul reaver 1,2 blood omen 2 with a gamepad but defiance doesn't have it??

I would possibly suggest using XPadder and setting the game to Keyboard only then mapping the keys to your controller. At least doing it this way you aren't having to mess with controller & keyboard setting as there are enough buttons on a modern controller to map everything.

Just took a scrrenshot of my options with pad enabled (I have a wireless pad) Had to crop image as it was to big for GOG!

It was actually with my 360, I got 2 with the machine (now dead bloody Microsoft and the RROD) so I then just bought the official wireless adapter from Amazon and started using it.
You can also use a wired 360 pad on your PC as it is just USB.
Other than that most PC stockists should have them in or grab one from Amazon, make sure to get an official pad for best support with games.
