While browsing RPGs on GoG here, I noticed the Lands of Lore series and in particular, the third installment of the series. From the screenshots and reviews, it has an interesting experience system in, from what I believe anyway, is a learn-by-doing form. I like that idea and am considering buying it, but I noticed that there didn't seem to be a magic stat/skill anywhere.

Is there a magic stat or skill in this game that I just did not see, or does the game lack magic usable by the player? Traditionally when I build characters I always have magic in focus for them.
There are 4 guilds in the game, fighter, mages, clerics and thieves. After the intro you can join whatever you like, just one or all of them.
There are plenty of magic spells you can buy/learn and use like summoning golems, summon some light for dark places, fire and lightning spells, invisibility etc. By using healing on yourself or attack spells on enemies you level up the corresponding guild skill level and get stronger. At least thats how it should work i guess.
I always used the training room in the fighters guild where you just kill a golem and get exp in every guild you are currently in. You're also getting more exp if you are just in one or two guilds, because it splits the ep between them iirc.

now that i think about it, i guess it doesnt matter what and how you do it, all the exp gets split on your guilds, but i never thought about it further.

Slightly confused, but I think I get what you're saying. Your skillset is dependent on the guild you join, although where it splits is complex. Either way, this seemed to answer my question. I'll give the game a buy and see if I like it. Thanks! :)
Sorry, I wrote that in the middle of the night :D just try it out and you will see, it's a cool game.

Bought and have played it a bit yesterday. Eugh, it's very complex at the beginning, the mapping system's a bit hard on what remains of my brain. I give fair chances though as I once said the same about Daggerfall, and because I stuck with it I now play Daggerfall regularly. So I will also try to stick with this... although the hugest throw-off is that now that I am in the Mages Guild, I cannot find the fighting simulator in the Fighters Guild. I found something that seemed to be more of an obstacle course, but that can't be it. Suppose I'll have to make a separate topic.

Thanks for the recommendation, it's not that I don't like the game, I've just had a lot of frustration with how complex it is and trying to platform my way across lava on a horrible momentum jump system. I just gotta stick with it and hope I can attune to it.
the fighting simulator is in the opposite room from the obstacle course. you have to click something in order to open the panel for difficult control. but im not sure if you need to be member to be able to use it. the obstacle course is a bit buggy sometimes and not really worth the trouble.

indeed controls are a bit tricky, but that never stopped me from playing, because i like the game so much. LoL2 and 3 are some of my early childhood games that i played a lot and i always take some time to replay them after a few years.
