I'm wondering if that's another out-of -season April fools day or simply a dream since no announcement was done.
On top of that, I dreamed a month ago that Betrayal of Krondor was available at the same price. Please, tell me it's real!

There was a time where I really wanted RTK as well, but that was completely demolished when I finally played it years later. What a letdown :(

It's a game i have heard mentioned so many times that i have always wanted to play it...Has it not aged well?

Yeah Betrayal is excellent, this game.....not so much. Nothing to do with age either, it's just terrible. I'm really not sure what went wrong, but then it was in the era of Sierra's decline. Not really surprising.

From what I've seen, this game is rather good. Just much shorter and linear than BaK.
I really like Return to Krondor. I played RTK before I played Betrayal at Krondor, so that didn't influence my judgment.
I certainly agree that the depth of characters, detail and non-linearity are not as good in RTK. But nevertheless, I loved the visuals, loved the gameplay and loved the voice acting. RTK has a unique universe which sets it apart from other RPGs and it also has that engaging 'book feel'. The gameplay can be repetitive but the loot drops change every game and some unique random encounters kept me coming back repeatedly to this game.
If you don't have experience with BaK, or that won't bother you, take a look at RTK.
The game had rather troubled development history and was not received well as I remember. CGW's review was titled "Return to Vendor" -- that's how much they hated it. In the reality it was not that bad by itself but obviously losing to competition. Could not live up to BaK obviously.
Still, I am glad to see it here. This means that the Krondor license is not as restrictive as it could be and BaK may be next. Throw in Betrayal in Antara for completeness.

BaK is essentially freeware as Sierra offered it up as a free download a few years back - but a "new operating system" wrapper would probably be nice for those who don't want to mess with getting it working. It will be well worth a few bucks to get the manual, etc.
Speaking of which, I just bought this and there's no manual download and nothing in the directory after it's installed...anyone know the deal?
