Seriously, just wow... THIS is how you do character depiction. The writing is just so good that it's like you're transported in a whole other world and you really feel for the characters. I understand why people have such fond memories of this game. It's just as good as some of the finest novels ever. Ever paragraph, no matter how insignificant, is simply a joy to read. Unlike in Planespace Torment it doesn't feel overly wordy, emo or forced, it's simply just right. Best writing in a game, ever.
I must admit that I have a lot of trouble not getting lost and figuring out where to go but I'm so glad I got it.

Indeed, Raymond E. Feist, an excellent fantasy writer, has a really, really good style, which got embedded in the game just perfectly.

Much agreed, BAK got me into the Midkemia series back in the 90s
