deusfaux: I also vote for original versions of I, V, VI. Voice acting in the latter two is awful and takes me out of nostalgia
Gydion: As for V & VI the "original versions" would be both cdrom & floppy versions.
different intro though.
edit: I see you found the Wishlist.
Several things I'd like to mention.
1. Technically the original KQ1 is the version for the PJjr. It's more or less like the PC AGI version that comes with this set. It however has some interesting differences, such that Graham is known as ''Grahame'' in all the text he is mentioned. There is a more exaggerated and silly death scene for Edward, they used the dragon's head in place of the alligators in the moat, among other things. Lots of crickets and other ambient sounds. It has an extra flash screen before the title giving the Sierra logo, and IBM logo.
2. The technically the floppy versions of both V and VI are the original versions of those games. Each came out a year before the Cd-Rom versions. At least with V the there are some big differences in script ("screenplay") and interface. Although yes they are based on the same engine.
3. For people not willing to wait or look to buy a copy of the KQ6 floppy version, the demo for KQ6 has the complete intro from the floppy version. You can find the demo on many sierra fan sites. That is pretty much the only difference between the floppy and cd-rom other than some cosmetic menu color differences, and maybe one or two lines of speech that are adlibbed differently than the text.
deusfaux: they make the game UNPLAYABLE. Cedric the owl, whilst being the worst kind of campy uncle reading to a classroom voice, sound like it's played by the same voice actor as Graham, making the first several minutes a mind breaking conversation between a man and himself talking like a lunatic. It's EXCRUTIATING.
Actually it is the same actor Josh Mandel... Ironically, he is the only as far as I know professionally trained actor in the entire game. Although the direction he was forced to take was partly due to Roberta Williams.
