g00e: Is there a way to enable the cutscenes?
What happens when you click Replay Intro in the main menu, does it play?

There are only three video files and you can watch them outside the game if it doesn't work in-game.
Intro: W32opn_1.dll
Middle: W32mdl_1.dll
Ending: W32ndg_1.dll

To watch them (e.g. in the VLC Media Player) rename their extensions from ".dll" to ".avi" and simply double click them.

The Replay Intro button do not work.
No Video no Sound, the screen just turns black for a sec and the im back in the menu.
Now I need to find out when to watch the middle one.
Only played the demo some years ago :P

Thanks a lot anyway :D

You're welcome. I don't know why it doesn't play, but maybe your system is missing the right codec. The game uses a rather old Indeo 5.x codec in an AVI container format. Microsoft deactivated this codec 2009 for the Windows Media Player due to security concerns (see here https://technet.microsoft.com/library/security/954157). This could also be the root of this issue.

Try installing VLC and make it your standard player for all video files. Maybe that helps.

The videos do not work well with nGlide (3Dfx renderer is enabled by default).
And... the Indeo 5 video codec is disabled by default (due to security issues) on current Windows versions.

I uploaded re-encoded videos:
http://nicode.net/games/kqmoe/
One for maximum compatibility (playable on Windows 95 or later, and Wine).
And one with the free Xvid codec to avoid more compression artefacts while retaining the file size.
Read the text files for more details.

ps: during the game the video issue might raise the head again, see KQ: Mask of Eternity graphics problem - post #4

ok, i tested both the avi and xvid download.
copied and renamed them properly into gamedir.
ingame with both only sound works.
if I wach the vids with vlc, everythings fine.

is there a way to get the vids working properly ingame?

installed K-Lite codecs already.
Works for me with default nGlide settings on Windows 7 x64....
Try using the DirectDraw mode: Open the Options.cs with a text editor and change assignGModeName from Glide to Software.

ps: You don't need any codec packs for the max-compatibility videos. The Cinepack codec is installed by default and codec packs might create new problems...
