Looks like its going to be an action game, with a mix of Dragon's Lair style puzzles.. But the Don Bluth quality graphics look incredible. It's cool to see the Old Well, the dragon, and the magic mirror reimagined!
Hmm... I was hoping that the developers would stick with Sierra's 2D point and click adventure style. This looks like another King's Quest 3D failure to me. Maybe this new generation will like it and it will do well? Maybe I'm just old school but this doesn't seem or feel like King's Quest to me. Oh well...
They haven't shown off puzzles yet. But since the game appears to be a "greatest hits" version of Graham's life story, I'm not sure how puzzles will be managed, a bunch of mini adventures and linear levels it looks like.

Here is more including the award ceremony to the Williams. Includes the 'passing of the cap" and introduction of the new game, and the developers.

I love the trailer, i hope the game comes to Gog
From the Odd Gentlemen's blog:

This King’s Quest trailer is just the first of hopefully many sneak peeks at our game. Look forward to media showing off puzzles, story, exploration, and more wonder
Here is the GOG wishlist.

Glad to see that they received an award after all these years.
I don't think I have ever seen anyone deserve a reward more than Ken and Roberta Williams. They seem like really pleasant people too.

If you watch the whole show you can see Roberta giving the "new fellow" an adventurer's hat, too. The same kind King Graham uses. Nice touch.
Several places are now listing the game as King's Quest: Your Legacy Awaits.

I'm not exactly sure if Your Legacy Awaits is actually a subtitle, but perhaps just a marketing catchphrase, but I guess I'll go with it! Sierra Games channel on Youtube might support that its a subtitle as well.

I am very happy someone is finally doing something with KQ. I hope it lives up to the old games.
If this does well, Space Quest, the next Roger Wilco game is likely to come too. If it doesn't get announced between now and Fall 2015.
The guys behind Space Quest is making a Space Quest ish game right now. It got funded by kickstarter. As a side note: I just discovered a sequel to Loom is in the works, as well. Looks pretty damn good.

Yes I know about Space Venture, but its technically unrelated to Space Quest. Activision still owns Space Quest, and could do something with the IP.

Ok King's Quest 9 has its own new website page. Not much here yet, but the trailer.

There is some more description that seems to suggest the game is not simply a 'retelling' or 'reimagining' (it is a 'reimagining' but might be something more than that) but is intended to tie into the original series and expand upon them, but at the same time is also independent of the original series. Which seems to suggest a kind of 'mixed-canon' so to speak.
Developed by The Odd Gentlemen, the new King’s Quest™ reimagines all the charm, humor, puzzles, exploration and sense of wonder that made the franchise so magical when it first arrived thirty years ago. Old and grey, King Graham – the hero made legend in the original King’s Quest games – shares the extraordinary stories of his youth with his curious granddaughter, Gwendolyn, taking players back to the feats that shaped a kingdom.

And so begins an episodic saga that honors the core characters and familiar storylines of King Graham’s early adventures, setting up new chapters tied to – but independent of – the series that helped define Sierra and the adventure genre. Through these tales, a whole new generation can finally experience one of gaming’s most beloved journeys.
Some more details. Here is the Game Informer article that talks about characters, story, and puzzle solvingin and exploration in the game, and the games choice/score system.

New article gives much more promising picture about the new KQ than the promotional video did. I'm fine even with the reimagined parts if the story stays loyal to the original atmosphere of the series. And I certainly wish that the puzzles will have Sierra difficulty instead of being way too easy, like most puzzles in new adventure games are.
