If you haven't noticed the intro to KQ 6 is a bit shall we say choppy this sadly was a issue even in the original release this was because the player Sierra used was faulty but fortunately this is a easy fix as all one has to do is replace the file VGA30.drv with the improved version which can be found in the Gabriel Knight 1 demo, you can find the fixed version here: http://www.fileswap.com/dl/ZiuILf1mk7/VGA320.DRV.html

Rumor has it that the glitched version was taken from a modified internet pirated copy, because Vivendi didn't have any access to originals.

The problem doesn't exist in any of the classic King's Quest collections (1 & 2, and Roberta Williams Anthology), or early printings of the KQ6-CD as far as I know.

It wouldn't surprise me if that was not the case, either way the version of KQ6 GOG has has the issue.

Yep, that's probably because they got their version from the Vivendi collection.

Now, if someone could send them the fixed file, so they can update their installers with it, everything would be great!

I was thinking about doing that

Have you sent a support ticket?

It'll never be fixed if you don't send a support ticket!

Yes I messaged them, While I'm a bit bullheaded I tend not to be a complete half-wit that I would honestly expect them to just lurk and check every single thread here on the forums for issues and solutions, seriously though didn't we already have this discussion in another thread?

I hope they can use it, I tried to attach the file to the suppourt ticked but sadly I had to change the file extention to .JPG as you can only attach images it seems, you would think that you could attach any old file for suppourt tickets, but just in case I did put a link to the thread which in hindsight I really should of just posted a link to the file itself.

Well finally heard back from Support they said they thanked me and said they will pass it along to the product team who should take care of it.

Now I really wished I just put the link to the file instead of linking them to here in case they can't use the copy of the file I attached since I had to change the extention from .DRV to JPG(since you can't attach anything but image files on Suppourt tickets for some silly reason), guess I should stop sending messages before I completely wake up.

I'm reminding people to send support tickets since a lot of people don't. They start a forum thread about a problem, years go by and nothing happens, because they probably didn't send a support ticket.

But thanks for getting this problem fixed.

Good luck with that, I've lost count of the number of times I submitted support tickets for KQ Mask of Eternity telling them exactly where the game is crashing and why and they always get ignored. So don't hold your breath waiting for GOG to fix something.

GOG has patched their Sierra games few times, there was for example major patch to Quest for Glory -series which fixed several issues which had been reported here on the forums. Fixing KQ6 cutscene problem is easy task for them to do (it takes about 10 seconds to fix it if you have the right file) and I believe they will do it.

However it's huge pain in the backside to get Mask of Eternity to work correctly. I have the disc version and I haven't tried running it on Win7 64bit yet, but it was already very annoying with XP. There are several locations in the game where game can crash and sometimes only way I could get past those issues was to turn off glide emulator and play it from 1st person view. I don't think that GOG has resources and ability to fix all those crashes, but they probably have made it less painful than what playing the CD version is.

I run KQ8 on Win7 64bit. I haven't had any problems, other than the standard crashes that I've had on every system... The same way I used to get past those problems on other systems still work.

The disk version of KQ8 won't even install on later windows, without using that fan installation program.

The biggest issue they really need to fix, is the cd drive check... Since people should't have to install a virtual drive software.
