first off let me say that I am not tech savy! I am considering purchasing the king's quest series. In the requirements it doesn't list I will need any extra hardware except for what the site provides. is it really that simple or will I have to use extra programs? I have tried things like dosbox in the past and was unsuccessull! I haven't played these games in years and would love to play them again but I don't want to waste my time in money if its not going to happen for me! thanks!

The games come packaged with Dosbox. You do not need to separately download Dosbox or any other programs to play the King's Quest games. Just download and run the game installer. After installation, you will have the game icons on your desktop. Just double click the icon of the KQ game you want to play and it will start in Dosbox without you needing to do anything else.
kq2 has no dosbox. downloaded it 4 times still no dosbox..... HELP

All you have to do is download it from GOG, install it, and play. ;)
as I said... game has NO dosbox..... which it means I have to play using the damm arrow keys. KQ1 had dosbox worked just fine.
What are you talking about? DosBox is the program that lets you run KQ2 on modern windows. So if you're able to play KQ2 then you're running it through DosBox. And KQ2 was only playable with the keyboard, not the mouse

You actually can play it using mouse + keyboard, when you use ScummVM.
