I just bought 1-3 and 4-6, and when I start ANY of these games, the colors are messed up. Does anyone know how to fix this?

I'm running Win7 x64.

Go to the game directories. Probably located in something like Program Files\GOG.com\KQ46\...". Look for a file that says something like dosboxkq4.conf (depending which game you're editing. Open it and look for a line that says "output="... Change whatever output it's set to to overlay. So that it reads "output=overlay". Do this for each game

I have 4-6 and Win7 x64, as well. The only solution I've found for the colors is going into the properties of the game, and turning on "Run in 256 colors" under the Compatibility tab. Unfortunately, that only works for me for the first ten or so minutes of gameplay, so I'm trying it with "Disable visual themes" checked as well.

If you're running the games in dosbox (which is how the GOG games are installed), then compaibility mode won't help. The colors changing after playing for a few minutes is due to a conflict with the old graphic drivers the games used and windows explorer. If you want to go that route, then you'd want to disable windows explorer before running the games. You can setup a batch file with a taskkill command. However, it's easier and safer to just adjust the dosbox config file.

I tried yours after I read it, and it works much better. Thank you! I have to run the disable on my Lords of the Realm 2, since that one's not dosbox, and it's a pain; your solution is a much easier fix.

What graphics settings would you recommend for KQ7-8? Overlay is still giving me wonky graphics.

For KQ7, I'd use ddraw.

For KQ8 I'd recommend installing zeckensack's glide wrapper. Once you install it, go into KQ8 graphic options and choose 3dfx

I saw your reply on SHP forums. I will try your solution for KQ8 after I hear what collector has to say. Collector helped me with KQ7 already.
