I've been reading through multiple topics on this forum in regards to what can help King's Quest VIII run better. It seems that nGlide 1.03 seems to be the wrapper that works more often than not, so I want to give that a shot. However, whenever I try downloading anything from Zeus' site, the downloads end up failing, and whenever I try to download the files again, it takes me to a page telling me the connection was reset. Anyone have another place where I can download this? I'd really like to enjoy King's Quest VIII. If not, I'm open to suggestions on other wrappers out there that you guys recommend.

Also, there's a nglide_config.exe file in my King's Quest VIII folder, and it's nGlide ver. 1.02. I've tried messing with the settings a couple of times, but it doesn't seem to effect anything. I select apply after making my changes. Is there something I'm missing? Also, I'm running the game in Direct Draw with everything set to off. It's the only way to play the game without it running terribly, and even still it feels like the game is running at only 3/4 it's correct speed.
Author's website seems to be working fine for the download: http://www.zeus-software.com/downloads/nglide

Also, nGlide is terrible for performance and don't even try running it in 800x600. dgVoodoo is the best for this game if your machine can handle it (Direct X 11 native video card; doesn't need to be super powerful either. I get full speed with all options turned on with my AMD E-350 /Radeon HD 6310 integrated graphics), Dege spent a great deal of time making sure this game worked after I initially reached out to him about it. Address for that wrapper is: http://dege.freeweb.hu/

dgVoodoo is working great for me! The only thing I cannot do is switch in-game to 800x600 mode without it crashing. Anything I should try to get this resolved?

Thanks
1.02 had the problem with performance. 1.03 works okay.

"King's Quest: Mask of Eternity Use these configuration files"

kingmask_patch.zip -> Options.cs

KQSound::setSpeechVol 0.93
KQSound::setSfxVol 0.87
KQSound::setMusicVol 0.87
setShadowMask 15
useDynamicLighting 0
set Options::Captions true
notStartingHelp 0
assignGModeName Glide
setBrightness 47
set800mode 0
nGlide can't handle the Dynamic Lighting, which is one of the main benefits of using Glide in the first place for this game. dgVoodoo 2 is the only wrapper that can run with Dynamic Lighting turned on without killing performance as far as I've seen.

Change set800mode 0 to 1 in Options.cs. Alternatively, you can keep it at 0 and force resolution to an even multiple of 640x480 (ie. 1280x960, 1920x1440, 2560x1920, etc.). That way the artwork and HUD aren't warped by the uneven upscaling to 800x600. I have to run the game at 1920x1440 because my new laptop has a 3200x1800 screen and it's way too small otherwise.

I don't know why Zeus still hosts these conf files, but nGlide 1.03 works fine with DynamicLights=on (contrary to 1.02). There's even a thread about it:
