Hi, I've got trouble with item morale. I currently use the Archmage's Staff and is has listed race Humans and starts with 80 morale. I use Archamages as only human unit and recently have fought undeads and demons almost exclusively (+ dragons). The item morale goes down 2 points each fight, though. Can someone explain me why? I don't have any undead or demon units in my army, only elves and neutrals. I have similar situation with another item (Elven crown), with 1 elven unit and morale goeas up each fight.

Also, how does fighting the item after it's morale drops to zero works? I completed the fight, it tells me I broke the power of item and morale is still zero. Shouldn't it improve?
Different items have different factors that affect whether they gain or lose moral. For the Archmage's Staff it's a bit counter-intuitive, as it loses 2 moral per battle if you have Archmages in your army (so if you don't want it to lose moral get rid of any archmages you're using). To improve the moral of an item whose moral has dropped to zero you need to suppress the item- in your inventory right-click on the item then select "Suppress". You'll have to fight a battle similar to those when you upgrade an item (e.g. with gremlin towers). Also be aware that the battles to suppress powerful items (like the Archmage's Staff) can be quite difficult.

What? It loses morale with Archmages? One of reasons I've got them is because I wanted to keep morale of this staff.
Yeah, I know about supressing I wrote about it in my post but I forgot the word supress so I wrote I "broke it's power." My problem is the morale stys 0 after supesssing it. Shouldn't it go up at least bit? It happens to every item I have so I guess I am doing something wrong.
That sounds like a bug if the moral stays at zero once you win the battle to suppress the item (it should go to 100 after suppressing it). Not sure how to go about fixing that.

And yes, the thing with the archmages is utterly counter-intuitive, not sure what they were thinking on that design decision.
I don't think it si fixable. :-( It doesn't matter in my game much as I am already near the end but my girlfrined started to play recently and it would be bad if she had the same problem. It's case with any item, not only Staff. It is quiite exploitable to gain money out of it and to replenish lost units in weaker fights (via Sacrifice). Maybe it's because I satrted the game with lower patch before bringing it up to 1.7.
It isn't only bug in my version. My GF had problems on first map with transforming talking stone into altar (The stone disappeared without altar appearing) and also with Turtle where there was broken chat with Orch Shaman which prevented to do anything in battle with Turtle.

Thanks for your replies. I had to stop using Archamge's Staff as I had no other human soldiers to keep it's morale high and it was nearing zero.
The morale of the archmage staff depends on your hero not your units. If you are a mage the morale does not go down. If you are a paladin or warrior the morale will go down after every battle

If it was the case it would be even more broken as I played as mage.

Very strange, i played as a mage and the morale just stayed at 80% i think. It only went down when i played as paladin or warrior
As far as I can tell the Archmage's Staff morale is not affected by class. You might be mixing it up with another item, the Wizard's Mantle, whose morale is affected by class.

I just tested it with a mage and the Archmage's staff morale and it stayed at 80% after each battle. On the wizard's mantle im not so sure anymore but i think the morale of it went down even with the mage.

For Wizard's Mantle it still goes down by one each battle even with a mage, it just goes down even faster with a paladin or a warrior.

Also, did you happen to test whether the morale of the Archmage's Staff goes down if playing as a mage, but with Archmages in your army?

I had no archmages in the army, that's why i said it does not depend on your units.

The information I previously dug up indicated that the morale decreases if you DO have Archmages in your army. Thus the definitive test would be seeing whether or not morale decreases when playing as a mage and with Archmages in the army. If the morale does decrease then it's due to units, while if it doesn't decrease then it's due to class.

Well i just had a savegame before the last battle with a mage and the staff, so i cannot test it with archmages in the army ^^. But im very sure that it depends on the hero.

Heh, that's the same situation my saves are in as well, otherwise I'd have tested it myself. Thanks for checking on what you could.
