Hey guys,

I downloaded the three parts of the game, ran the installer, but when I try to start the game I get an error message which says, "This application has failed to start because d3dx9_33.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem". I have tried reinstalling twice, but I get the same message. I will attempt to attach a picture of the actual error message if I can. I am running Vista/ 64 bit if that helps. Please help me if you can. Thanks.

Thiev: Your DirectX is up to date?
You nailed it. Thanks so much.
i am having the same problem as above but im running 7 64 bit and my directx is up to date.
I'm having the same problem. My DirectX is up to date, my nvidia drivers are current, what else could it be? I really want to play this game. I bought it months ago and haven't been able to even see the title screen yet. Any ideas would be really appreciated!

Which version of directX do you have insalled. A lot of older games do not work properly with directX 11. Install a fresh copy of directX 9, it can happily co-exist with directX 11 and may sort out your problems
I am having the same problem. I have tried downloading direct x 9, but it still doesn't work. I'm afraid that I'll have to just ask for a refund.

Have you tried searching for the missing file ?
if so where is it located and what version / size is it.
What type of computer and operating system are you using ?
Unfortunately, I'm NOT very Computer Literate, (I am using Windows 7, 64 bit) So I don't know where really to look. It asked me where to put direct x 9 when i down loaded it, and i wasn't sure so i tried puting it in the same folder as the program downloads from here.

It sounds like you downloaded the correct file successfully extracted the installer but did not install it.
go to the folder where you put the file and double click on DXSETUP.exe which should install directX 9 and hopefully should solve your problems.
Well, i guess that i didn't actually download it - even though i DID click "Download" because I did search for "DXSETUP.exe" file and couldn't find it. Now i am trying to find somewhere to actually download direct x 9 but all i can find are newer versions. This is getting just too darn frustrariong.

Well, Sceptical, GOG shoulf be paying you. But now i got a message saying that direct x couldn't access enough memory to "complete the call." (Whatever THAT means) - I guess that i am just SOL.
But thanks for all your help.

Sorry need a few more details to help.
What were you doing when you got the error message ?
how far did you get in the process.
1) downloaded the DirectX files.
2) unpacked them.
3) run DXSETUP.exe
4) run Kings Bounty.

at what stage was the error ?
It happened when i tried to run the game. Everything else went fine. I thought that I had plenty of memory, but i guess this needs more. (?)
