I don't suppose anyone here has played 'Ascension to the Throne' have they?

It is made by the same people who created King's Bounty and it looks like it may have a similar kind of game play, although it is 3D instead of isometric. It actually sounds quite good and I am very tempted to get it but I want to hang fire until I've come across someone who has actually played it before I make a decision.

Anyway, does anyone know if the game is just a 3D version of KB and also, is it any good?

Thanks :)
Yep, played it, seemed very good at the time, but i suppose it;s getting long in the tooth, has a very hard to find addon, Valkyrie, i have the german version of the addon, supposedly in was released in english on a download only site ( like gog). My memories are very good, but then, i found myself unable to play Magic Carpet, which i loved at the time, due to horrible graphics. If you are not bothered by that, and teh cheesy actors, then it;s a good game
I really loved the game. For me, it had the same pull as HOMM or King's Bounty. The only real drawbacks I can remember are:

- technically it's rather sub-par (graphics and UI and the like)
- there were some noticable bugs, but nothing game-breaking
- in the beginning you will have trouble finding a fight you can win, while in the end you will be really overpowered

If you are not bothered by that, it's a fantastic game.
Thanks for the replies and opinions - off to buy it now to add to my collection.

+1 to both :)
A bit late on this but if you still need help actually finding these games:

Ascension to the Throne is available DRM-free on Gamersgate for 5 bucks.

The sequel, Valkyrie, is indeed hard to find but only in Europe. There are still quite a few US-copies on ebay for dirt cheap, which is where I got my copy from. DRM-free too (as were all AttT retail releases if I remember correctly).

Wow, this may be my first necro-post, but here are my two cents:

The digital version of Valkyrie is available through Strategy First's website. That's where I got the first game, and it's drm-free.
