hey ya'll. My game appeared to be running fine the first few times, but after 3-4 times running it, it ceases to run. the executable loads into memory but I get no game!
This question / problem has been solved by Ralackkimage
Have you tried all the basics to get it running like running it in compatibilty mode, running as admin on vista, changing video hardware acceleration, updating video drivers or rolling them back if the problem occured after an update?

Yes. it's also Windows XP.
EDIT:
Actually I figured out what the problem was, after running it the first time, the executable fails to unload itself from memory when I exit it. I have to end the process in order for it to quit. This is still unacceptable and I will still leave this open for resolution. Only now the issue is the game won't unload itself from memory when I exit.

I never had any problems with my copy of Kingpin... Are you running it on some VMWare or a cell phone or sth?
Better yet, post us a DXDiag.txt file.

I think I may have figured out what it was, I was renaming the .exe so I could record the game, and whenever I ran the renamed .exe it wouldn't quit, but I could get kingpin.exe to quit just fine. thanks though!
That would make sense, does your game still stutter or was that only when you were recording?

No, it still stutters.
Could you try setting the game to 16bit colours or 256 colours in compatibility just to see if that improves it any?

I'll have to see about it when I get home. I have run all the optimizations within the client, I was able to get the game to at least a playable state, but it was still very stuttery. the opening cinematic is just a killer though, i had to wait 30 min for it, I don't know how long the intro should be, but I had to wait a significantly long time.
here's the outcome..
Yea I've seen that video, that to me isn't playable. Hopefully changing to 16bit colours may fix the problem.

well, it's barely playable, I can't understand what people are saying or doing. :(
I now have a problem with the game too.:(
When I bought the game it ran fine, but I didn't play it because my display stopped working and the one I had to use until I bought a new one was a LCD from 1999 with very bad interpolation (horizontal lines and so on), so I waited until I got a new monitor.
Now I have a 24" display (Iiyama ProLite B2409HDS-B1) with a resolution of 1920x1080 and the game doesn't work anymore. Whenever I start the game it instantly crashes with the message "Kingpin.exe has encountered a problem and stopped working."
What I tried so far to solve the problem:
- deinstall the game, delete its registry entries and do a new installation
- try to run it in 640x480 (combined with 256 colors)
Nothing helped, the game still crashes instantly.:(
What else can I try to get it working again? The new display really is the only thing I've changed before the game stopped working.
Thank you in advance. :)
