I recently purchased this game with the understanding that the sexual content was limited to interaction with in-game prostitutes, and so completely optional.

Is that a correct understanding? Can I play the whole game and avoid all of the nudity/sexual content? Or is it forcibly part of the storyline at some point? And, if it is part of the main storyline, is the scene skipable?

I've played some time ago, so I'm not giving you a 100% guarantee on this list being complete, but so far as I remember:

1. The "bath wenches" (as the game would call them) are fully optional - it's a dialogue option you never have to click. You can safely visit the bathouse for normal things like a bath, hairstyle change, etc. without any sex scenes.

2. A few side questlines with female NPCs have a romance undertone. It's possible they could end in some sort of skippable romance scene. I would be surprised if it were actual nudity, though. I say this as a hypothetical because the one time I actually ended such a questline I chose the "clean" option of not pushing for romance (it felt out of place to have the protagonist do anything with the lady of a castle).

3. One side quest involving Hans Capuon is suggestive, since he is a known womanizer and asks you to meet him at the baths. Just don't take / complete his quest. Not sure about the DLC named after him - that might some more content of that sort but would obviously be skippable by not engaging with the DLC content.

4. One main quest has two paths to completion, one of which involves getting horribly drunk and the protagonist waking up witnessing a sex act. It's a skippable scene but it's also a skippable path - if you choose to play a prim and proper person, you can refuse to drink, which avoids the general debauchery (you'll just have to get a piece of information through other means).

5. If you are, perhaps, concerned about other sorts of improprieties, there's a side quest where the protagonist is asked to stop a bunch of women who are trying to participate in ""witchcraft" - no nudity but the quest involves the protagonist being mistaken for The Devil. Thought I'd throw that in in case that sort of thing would bother you.

Overall, everything on this list is optional, with different ways to avoid it. The side quest content that's suggestive will clearly stand out as such, while the main quest part can be avoided by playing a Henry who's not into impropriety.

Thanks so much for that information! I'm fairly liberal with my gaming content, so the witch stuff wouldn't bother me, but as a happily married man I try to avoid any nudity/sexuality while playing anything. This game looks absolutely beautiful and I'm excited to know it can be played without having to see that stuff!

You’re absolutely welcome. I fully support choosing entertainment that aligns with people’s values (whatever they are). There’s something really absurd about paying for stuff that’s supposed to make you feel good and then realizing that you’re not enjoying it because it ambushed you in some way. Whether that’s a piece of media preaching values you deeply disagree with, accidentally going to a gore horror movie, or – as in your case – being ambushed with sex scenes while married. :-)

And the game is, in fact, quite a gem of RPG craftsmanship. Hope you have fun.

PS. I haven't played the DLCs. My gut instinct based on plot and mechanics is that there shouldn't be anything there (outside the Hans Capuon DLC) but I can't 100% guarantee. Should there somehow be anything, I'd expect it to be skippable - just like the rest of instances.

My memory might be a bit hazy but I don't remember any actual nudity in this game.
Blackscreens, audible but nothing explicit visual.
Even the bath quest is clothed, as it would be in 1408.
The bathhouse "sex" is to give you an alpha buff thats all nothing to see not even blurry.

Wait hold your horses...Theresa....that is nude....lay off wooing Theresa or else ;)
Other than that its safe isnt it?

There are 2 scenes I can think of that have nudity/sex:

1. The third task in wooing Theresa that leads to 'it',

2. "Partying" with the priest in Uzhitz as was mentioned previously does lead to a sex scene and involves nudity, but also a funny scene "the morning after". Both scenes are only a few seconds long though.

These are the only 2 I'm aware of. All others that lead to or suggest sexual content you don't see as the game doesn't show those parts.

This game is a gem, hope you enjoy playing :P

I'll add one to the list; there are a series of tasks that you can perform for a certain noble's...paramour (that keeps it nice and ambiguous). Finishing the tasks offers a reward; do not accept it! Accepting the reward leads to a sex scene.

I had a problem with the quest - not because I have a problem with nudity or sex - but rather the rationale for the woman's sexual trist with me. I certainly had a problem looking the male character the same way. I guess that's why I love this game so much; it doesn't judge me for finding character flaws but doesn't punish me for trying to stay honest and true in a medieval world.
