I rolled back to 1.3.4, started a new game got as far as "pestulance" without an issue, had to stop because of the hour 1AM, got to be up in 5 hrs, but so far I haven't had any of the issues I did with 1.4.1 and the game is running very stable on high settings

onodanger: i started a new game with 1.4, and then i did the first mission, there arent no cinematics. Super BUG. I dont use mods
There are several missing video (cutscene) files in the GOG 1.4.1 version. I took them from the 1.3.4 version and installed them in the 1.4.1 version and everything seems to be working fine so far. When I compared the two installs, I didn't notice any other missing files.
I didn't keep 1.3.4 because its so large. If this is the fix then GOG needs to put older versions up!

Hello my friend, I have tried your solution and it seems that i can already see the cinematicas with 1.4.1. Thanks

PD: And I value KCD Support with a negative. More than a week waiting for an answer without news.

go to the GOG Galaxy, go to the Game page click More, click settings, unclick auto-updates, then you get a list of previous patches you can roll back to.

Yeah, it has been too long IMO for the fix. Especially (might be wrong) since it is just some missing files. Not wrong versions or anything weird. I am usually the last person you will hear not have patience with junk. (Been around the industry for 30 years). I think the last couple of uploads to steam and GOG were botched pretty bad. Easy to do when you are going...going...going, but this GOG one was very apparent to me when I saw the size was over 3G smaller than the previous version and data had not been reduced between the versions. To me that is a red flag that QA needs to "pick it up". My guess would be that they are now in a position. They can't easily re-release the same version. They want to keep GOG and Steam versions the same. They might be waiting for the next patch. I hope not. They could just add a patch for the patch, but politics etc. Who knows?

they already have a patch waiting for aproval according to
https://steamdb.info/app/379430/depots/
wich means it should release in the next two or three days, most likely it will remove the easter eggs from the game that were "hidden" in Sasau chicken coops, as well as fix several issues caused by 1.4, 1.4.1

Okay, cool. Thanks for the info!

Nicely done!
What exactly are the files?
Is it just the crossguard/radzig cinematic and the Cuman attack cinematic? (those are the two I've noticed missing, and I've been reluctant to continue beyond that without a solution)
What are the names of the files - I'd quite like to give this workaround a go!
Is it just a case of copying them and pasting them into the appropriate folder?
Warhorse'll probably release a patch tomorrow, but in case they don't I'd quite like to try your method!

Thanks

hey i was really frustrated because of crashes to desktop when cinematics should play with the question and answers quest @merhojed.

After i cured him ( dont remember the exact name, but i think that guy was a bandit, the one you needed the consent of melichar to speak with because he was guarded), every time when i`m talking with him and either choose "you dont deserve mercy" , "put in a good word for you"(playing in german dont know what the dialog options are in english) , or "sir radzig decides" the game crashes or (with the last option only) gets stucked in infinite loading screen. Im suspecting that it tries to play cinematics and if there are really missing files, maybe that leads to the crashes?

ive already switched countles times between versions 1.3.4 and 1.4.1 and actually have an 40+ hours save from version 1.4.1. it takes hours to download the patches and im really sick of it but if that solves the problem i`d be glad to do that because of the time i invested in that save.

so could you please tell me which files you copied into the directories or where in the game folder i find them? pretty much a noob in those things.

File list:
videosb-part0.pak
videosb-part1.pak
videos-part2.pak
videos-part3.pak
videos-part4.pak

I know they contain way more video than those two, but I have no idea exactly what videos.
Those files are in the "Data" folder in both versions. Just copy the ones from version 1.3.4 into the "Data" folder for 1.4.1

My experience from fresh install and new game on 1.4.1 was when a cinematic was supposed to be played and wasn't there, it just skipped it. That could easily be different depending on your situation in the game. If your save was played at any time with version 1.4.0 it is most likely corrupted.

Actually downloading it via GOG Galaxy while I write this post. It's 5.4 GB in size, so hopefully it fixes quite a lot of problems.
I'm working right now and can't test this. Fingers crossed that someone can confirm the cutscenes are working again!

I just tested some cutscenes that were missing in 1.4.1 (forging with father in Skalitz, the attack on Skalitz and arrival to Talmberg), now they are in the game for me in 1.4.2.
