I had high hopes for the 1.3 patch, but i still have the same problem: picking the lock leads to the golden cursor stuttering, while I still have 50 fps ... it's practically not possible to pick even the easiest locks with this... so dissapointing :( hopefully with patch 1.4 or 1.5 it will be fixed...

Some degree of stuttering - the shake of the cursor after you start to rotate the lock - is by design.
Just like with the archery skill the shake decreses as you level up the related character skill.

One workaround for lower level lock picking is to check for locks that have their 'sweet spot' near the center of the lock so it's easier to keep the cursor in place. Since locks seem to assign this location randomly on interact you can leave a given lock and try it again later to get an easier placement.

It's also worth mentioning that spending a bit of time outside of any quests working on lockpicking will be of value.
I struggled to get even easy locks for quite awhile so I spent a few nights wandering around picking easy locks and then walking away. If you find a location - such as an isolated farm - with an easy lock it can be a great place to level as well. Go at night pick the lock and then wake the inhabitents without being seen, they'll relock the door after they calm down and you can pick it once again for more exprience.

Hope some of that helps :)

The chest behind the mill is a practice chest, it relocks every time so just use that. Takes a few seconds after it closes but it does relock.
thanks for the help and sorry for the late "thank you", I paused playing the game... will wait for some more time...

As RoseLegion explained, this is not a bug or implementation issue.

If the "sweet spot" golden cursor starts shaking too much, you are NOT in the actual "sweet spot" when you began rotating the lock. Spend some time to find where the golden point is largest - that's the point you want to keep around.

Higher difficulty chests require greater accuracy (which does mean you have to adjust it as you rotate), but after 1.3 patch lockpicking is hardly difficult. I was able to open Hard and Very Hard chests with 5 skill points (though I'm sure the perk that makes it easier you get along the way helped).

(Very) Easy chests have so much error leeway now you should absolutely have no problems opening them even with clueless level 1 Henry. The inhabitants of Skelitz can attest to it in my playthrough, as things mysteriously disappeared from every but the merchants' Very Hard chests.

I would not hold my breath for any "fix" in the future. Warhorse already addressed the initial difficulty concerns.

Thanks for the heads up. My pause is actually due to other games I'm busy with at the moment. It's been so long, that I left playing kingdom, that I don't feel any urgency to return to the game. I definitely want to return, for sure, but maybe it's a little bit more polished, when I come back to it in summer or so xD Unfortunatelly, there are so many games and only so little time xD

Schlaumayr: Thanks for the heads up.
No problem.

I do have a feeling it's best to wait till at least 1.4 is out. I had no issues early on, but the further I got in the main quest the more problems, or questionable design implementations, appeared.
I've found that turning my mouse sensitivy to the max really helps when picking locks (if you have a gaming mouse that can do it on the fly)
i worked as a locksmith, and the lockpicking in this game is hardER than actually picking a modern lock
ALSO: medieval locks were almost all either a rope mechanism, or a ward lock, both of which are NOTORIOUSLY easy to defeat....so they made the lockpicking so hard its NOT REALISTIC, or historically accurate
