What does it mean? All amercians are christs? I am no christ...is it horrible? I live the way of germanic paganism. But what has it to do with pc games?
It isn't. Pretty much all characters are catholic, as they were in those times. There is, however, talk of the reformist named Jan Hus, and a guy is into those ideas of what would later become the ideas behind protestantism.

Other than that, nope. Religion is not a central theme, though it is all around.

If you like church art, this should be a nice one since every church is beautifully decorated with period-artwork. Lovely! :)

Thanks for the info Patsche. I ask only because I've run into a lot of anti-Christianity in games and didn't want to put down $60 for a game that I wouldn't be able to enjoy because it was attacking my religion all the time.

Thanks. As long as it's not going on attacking Christians and the Church the whole game, I'm good.

Thanks

You might want to read up about the Hussite Rebellion (which is right around the corner in KC:D time-wise). Personally, I would be extremely disappointed if the conflict between Catholic Church and the Hussites was not a major theme of KC:D2.

Another point to consider is that games set in that period are hardly attacking YOUR concept of religion. The Catholic church went through so many changes that its current form, one that you are familiar with, is outright hostile to some of the commonplace practices of medieval times.

There are plenty of reasons for somebody raised in modern society to be highly critical of former iterations of various religious creeds, but that hardly equates with intended criticism of its current form.

This is an important point. I don't think that a modern Christian would fault a game for a negative portrayal of things that used to be more common in Christianity (witch burning, executing gay people, holy wars, extreme antisemitism, sales of indulgences, inter-denominational violence, exorcisms, etc). The Christianity from centuries ago is a very different religion than the Christianity of today. It's practically a different religion altogether.

Plus it wouldn't make any sense for a game set hundreds of years ago to criticize a religion that wouldn't really exist until hundreds of years in the future.

Its for sure not anti christian as many said. Is very true to how it was in Bohemia wich means he church had a good amount off power. Tho with being HRE its less christian then say france and England was at the time.

My only complain about religion is really that I cant be a Teutonic Knight as far as i know :(

Well, there is corruption, there are tons of slaughtered "peasants", there are examples for typical behavior of "faithful" people (just sick) - all very much along with what the world has seen coming from christians so far.

In addition to that you have the ability to do some slaughter yourself, sometimes even for a good reason - so YES, the game is very straightforwart in christian manners (vandalism/brutality- yes vs boobs, etc. - no).

The real question: what kind of Christian are you?

Martin Luther, another famous Christian, was a fervent critic of the Catholic church--founded the reformation which birthed Protestantism. Many critics of the Catholic church today are Christians. Catholicism and Christianity are regarded as separate things by many Christians living today.

Personally, as a Christian myself, I do not consider attacks on the Catholic church as necessarily negative, especially for doctrines like "purgatory", for instance, in which the relatives of dead Catholics had to pay local priests to supposedly move them from "purgatory" to heaven (and often those relatives were left rotting in heaps above ground until the purgatory fees were paid, at which time they were buried in the so-called "hallowed" ground the local Catholic church owned.) Etc. Lots of critical grist for Catholicism in history. But the same is true for the so-called Divine Right of Kings in the secular world during those times...;) Brutal times, all around.

Religion is a part of the game, which i think is actually really wonderful. Whilst it's not a central focus, I love how the game explains the religious movements of the time and you get to play through some of these. There's alot of murder, thievery, violence etc, but all these themes were (and sadly still are) commonplace of the time. I think actually the religious aspects make the game better and help you to understand the time period and storylines. I don;t think it portrays christianity in a negative way; quite the contrary. It shows how people lived at the time, the bible gets mentioned alot and NPCs use alot of greetings in a positive way ie: 'Jesus Christ be praised,' 'God be with you' etc... But l agree with others have said: it also depends upon your actual view of Christianity and the chuch.
no it is not anti-christian! there are christian values played out everywhere. I can't imagine why anyone would think that! mentions of the bible and chist throught! especially the proglue, Lady Stephany and the dealings with -Christian- burials! you can loot corpses or not, it is not that you HAVE to! this is a poiltless argument related on one person's exterme right wing perspective! this is a troll topic!
