I gotta say, this was one of the few things I posted about on the wishlist, never thought I'd see it though!

Only just noticed it now too, so up and bought it. Sending a huge thank you to the GoG team for getting this really hard to find classic up here! :-)
Nice going GOG, I thought source code was lost so a pc digital version would never happen.
Can finally play this legit and in fullscreen <3
A year or two ago, I talked with a dev (i think) of KoDP on their facebook page, and he kept repeating that it is not possible to re-release game for new machines, that they tried and failed etc. I am extremely happy they changed their stance.

I think it's not a matter of stance as it is technology. David (I think it was him) mentioned on the blog they'd tried to get it working but couldn't, and that GOG's success with making it run surprised them.
We have not changed our stance — we wanted to do a downloadable game in 2006. Nor has it changed that rebuilding the game (from our source code, which we never lost) did not work.

But GOG was able to patch the game, which was not something we had tried. That is the sort of thing they do, and they are good at it.
Does GOG ever discuss their methods? I'm curious HOW they got this working.

GOG staff could tell us, but then TheEnigmaticT would have to kill us and that would be bad for business. ;-p

And no, they don't talk about the specifics unless medhod is generally known (wrapper for 3D acceleration, DosBOX for dos games, fan patches/fixes). The medhods are trade secrets after all and having team for doing these things and extensively testing the medhods to make sure they work and cause no harm is hardly quick nor cheap.
Well, that know-how is part of their success.

Btw, is the iOS version very different in terms of content? I will never know myself, as I loathe Apple.
