Might be a great game but it wont start. Gave it a one star review. Obviously enough people are having the
"resolution changes but fails to launch" problem that it's a major compatibility issue.

What good is no DRM if you cant even play?

Yes I saw and tried all the fixes.
Did you check http://www.gog.com/support/king_of_dragon_pass and contact GOG?
Just to be sure that I wasn't dreaming I tried ALL OF THE FIXES AGAIN...then I TRIED ALL OF THE FIXES AGAIN...
then a THIRD time...which is more then enough.

If anyone reads the other threads you'll see this has been happening since OCTOBER 2012 at least..

Even if a clean boot worked (it didn't--twice) that would be a deal breaker. Too many other things rely on having normal a start-up.

GoG support suggested trying a clean boot....

worked fine for me, what's your operating system? does it have all the updates? Im using Windows 7 64-bit.
What normally works for me is turning off the mouse driver program that is running in the background. In my case setpoint.exe. No idea why that works.
Thank you arnob8911, that did the trick for me :-)

Best regards
I can second that the Logitech Setpoint software seems to cause the game to not launch properly. After disabling it through msconfig.exe I was able to get the game to work properly.
Script for the logitech driver issue

Scroll down where you have to download two files, devcon 32-bit or 64-bit. Then follow it.

When you start the script it will disable all logitech drivers, start the game and then you can play. Once you quit the game, the script will turn them back on.

I've tested this for Mini Ninjas and Condemned: Criminal Origins and it worked as expected.

I've hear similar claims regarding the Razor Synapse software. Frankly, if I have to cripple normal system use like that just to play the game..the game isn't worth it. And the fact that all these unrelated things seem to have such an impact on this and only this game (it balks at *Chrome* running?) make me somewhat suspicious of the coding there..
