Any ideas how to fix it?

Wow! Almost two years have passed, but this issue is still not fixed.

Meanwhile, the Zoom Platform version of Killing Time works without any problems. At least it doesn't freeze after every mouse click and doesn't show a black screen with sound only, as the GOG version does. Oh, and it's free.

Now it's even more obvious that there is something wrong with the workaround used in the GOG version to solve the problem with messed colors.

How many more years should we wait for a fix, GOG?

I'm playing the GOG version through DxWnd (for some extra effects like no texture filtering) and have 0 problems with it. The GOG version is the best one available as it is the ONLY version that will NOT kill your EXPLORER.EXE when you launch the game. The Steam version and the Zoom version both still use this old method.

I pay money for "install and play", not for "install and waste your time trying to get it to work". I'm not interested in any third-party fixes.

By the way, it looks like the Zoom Platform version has been updated since the last time you played it, because now it doesn't seem to kill any processes.

Oh that's interesting. Thanks for the heads-up.

By the way, do you know how the fix used in the GOG version exactly works?

If I find out the principle of its work, maybe then I can understand why the game freezes after mouse clicks.

It seems to me that GOGLauncher.exe simply fills the entire screen with black color, then launches KILLTIME.EXE and it somehow fixes the messed up colors. I don't understand how such a simple fix can cause any problems.

Despite the fact that the Zoom Platform version works great for me, I'm still more interested in the GOG version.

It would also be nice if GOG staff finally showed up to say something over the past two years.

Unfortunately I've no clue.
